Credit where credit is due, yes you have been my partner in crime on this one. Sorry, I get carried away because it's been 3 years of bragging about the kid, and now I look like a Hockey genius ;)

Hat tip to Caps for allowing Flyers to avoid potential Ranger matchup in the next round while taking a giant dump on the city of Boston.

Way to go CAPS !!!. What a series that finally ended in our favor, I thought we were screwed on that cheap Chimera penalty but thank God the PK came through huge. I was so mad when that offical made that horrible call, but it don't matter because were moving on thanks to a nice play by Knuble and lil put back by Ward. Holtby was MVP of this series without a doubt , always knew this kid was going to be really good but what he did to the defending champs is really impressive. Yeah Allstar you have been saying that for a while now, so alot rep points coming your way tonight.lol.

I just started talking hockey on OH a year ago, so there's no evidence out there - but I've been on the Holtby band-wagon from the beginning. So gratifying. He won us this series, without a doubt.

My only complaint is that we didn't see enough shots of shocked/depressed Boston fans after the goal.

It's sad that Joe B and Locker won't be doing any more of the live game broadcasts, they're the best in the business IMO. Locker was absolutely giddy in the post game coverage.

Joe B is great! He does play by play for a few college lax games as well.

I think they need to get Knuble in there for Game 2. Need a guy that knows how to battle and grind in the playoffs and get to the goal. He rebounded nicely in March so I was surprised to see him get the healthy scratch.

Well it's a good thing Hunter listened to me! ;)

I do want to say that I have been on the Holtby bandwagon since he was in SC. That said, he does have cold spells (like any other goalie), I mean before the playoffs he did have a 3.00+ GAA this season. But when he's on, he's already probably one of the top 10 in the league.

Also, to make sure that I don't miss out this time:

Philip Grubrauer will be the best of the four goalies to come out.

He had a pretty solid season for South Carolina, and I think you see him in Hershey next year.

My house was louder than that arena was at the end of the game. The silence there was pretty deafening.

Didn't Grubrauer get hurt at the end of the season?

On a related note the Hershey Bears were facing elimination last night and scored the game winner 2:57 into OT, same time as the Caps game winner. Might be a good pick 3 number to play.

    • If Santander plays left and Stewart plays right Mountcastle will never play the outfield.   Mountcastle's arm is not good enough to play right and he is not good enough to move Santander out of left.  So Mountcastle better hope that Stewart is starting the season in left field.
    • He may do well in this 60-game season. In the long run, I wonder if he's ultimately a part-time player who is over-exposed when he plays too much?
    • So you’re saying there’s a chance!
    • I fell in love with her voice and this song from the old Windows 95 load, as it was preloaded on every Windows 95 OS.
    • As for Mountcastle and Stewart, Mountcastle is going to be playing just about everyday between LF, DH and 1B once the Orioles get the extra year of control (I believe somewhere around 7-10 games). Stewart will get his ABs in LF, Rf and DH as well, but I don't see him as a priority play.  If Santander will be a go in RF, the outfield will typically be Mountcastle, Hays and Santander with Stewart being the 4th OF with Santander moving to CF to give Hays a break against maybe a tough righty.
    • It will take more games in left field to know but Mountcastle's arm in left in ST 1.0 looked much worse than average.
    • I expect this season to play almost like a 60-game spring training for the Orioles with a lot of moving parts and essentially want amounts to try outs. I think there are a lot of variables for where Mountcastle could get his ABs. If the goal is primarily LF for him that could come at the expense of Stewart, but also Nunez, Riuz, Davis, or Santander. Given the short Spring Training 2.0, there's also an increased chance of muscle related injuries which could open the door, particularly if it's one of the aforementioned players. In this season, I want to see a lot of Hays and Mountcastle to get an idea of what we have. I want to see if Santander can build off last year; if Stewart can prove to be a useful big leaguer. I want to see if Davis can build off what looked like a nice start in Spring Training 1.0 or if this is his last chance. I want to see Nunez get reps defensively somewhere. I like his bat, but not sure I like it enough as a DH-only to warrant a spot when more players begin graduating or when Mancini returns next year. Of course, all of that is just on the offensive/position player side. I would like to get looks at a lot of pitchers as well. This should be a fun year to see what might be some guys last chance to prove themselves (though with no minor league season, that window for a few guys may be extended a bit with development stalled).
