Jim Johnson Today, 2013

Recommended Posts

Jim Johnson is going to end up as the best reliever in Oriole history if he keeps his uniform on. Is that even a bold prediction at this point?

Gregg Olson had 160 saves and a 176 ERA+ in an Oriole uniform.

JJ has 73 saves and a 139 ERA+. I'd have a hard time seeing JJ as better even if he ends up accumulating more than 160 saves as an Oriole, which is possible.

He threw some really nice pitches, including 2 great back to back changeups to Mauer. Unfortunately, he seemed to lose the feel for his fastball right after that. He had to get 4 outs but the walk killed him and us.

It seemed that the late called time out killed him.

I did not see the first six innings on TV but heard a lot of it on the radio. The ump appeared to squeeze O'Day and JJ the last two innings and was giving the corners to the Twins pitchers. Reservations somewhere?
