Amaro snaps at Heyman

Hey, Heyman isn't the best liked media guy covering baseball, but it's his job, and Amaro has to own up to doing some stupid moves.

Me thinks, Amaro is feeling the pressures, and it wouldn't surprise me, to see his can in the looking for a job market, soon.

I know you're going by hardballtalk's title for the story but there isn't any interaction between the two which is what is inferred from the the thread title. In fact Amaro's response seems rather reserved. Heyman "is wrong a lot of times", was the best they could do to generate some controversy?

Blah.

Your right, I went back and reread the article, I guess given Amaro's past behaviors, its not hard to believe he snaps at Heyman. Which you noted, is wrong a lot. Which I did point out, not the best liked guy in the media covering MLB.

Too late to change the thread title now. :(

I think Heyman is one of the laziest reporters out there, relies on his reputation instead of doing actual work and makes a lot of crap up. Basically what Amaro is saying.

I heard the interview this morning on the way into work (it was on WIP here in Philly), and I was surprised the host of the morning show (who usually asks only softball questions) was actually very direct and tough in his questions to Amaro, at one point dancing around saying Amaro may be delusional is he thinks the Phillies still have any shot at all to contend this season with this team.

In the middle of that, it was related to Amaro about what Heyman wrote, and if what Heyman says is true, Amaro is an idiot.

Amaro should be fired for not trading anyone. He failed miserably and has a team that isn't going to be able to contend for a long time.

Exactly. If anyone looks at the results of every season he has been GM and sees that the team has gone backward each season, it doesn't take a genius to see he has been a failure.

He had a great chance to raid the Sox farm system and he failed because of stubbornness/ego. Should've been fired a long time ago.

Even if we leave Cliff Lee out of the discussion, there is no reason for Carlos Ruiz, Chase Utiley, Michael Young, Jimmy Rollins, and Papplebon to still be on that team.

Apparently Brian Cashman called up near the deadline and asked about Young and Ruiz and Amaro said no. Even for pure salary relief purposes, Amaro should have let those two go.

Rollins has a full NTC, and apparently won't waive it until he's the all time team leader in certain categories.

EDIT: Nevermind, he's a 10/5 guy.

Young had a no-trade clause and only agreed to go to the Red Sox or the Rangers, that is, if you believe the media reporters.

And Yankees. And apparently the Yankees asked for him and Amaro didn't like the return.

And yet, Cliff Lee is injured. So no deal would have gone through.

He should have been trying to move him for a while. Waiting until the last second prevented a trade even if he wasn't so bullheaded.
