The Brady Workout Season has Begun

Recommended Posts

I believe Nolan is still rehabbing from his neck surgery. He has a home in Florida. I know his surgery was done in Clearwater and he goes there for check ups.

Rarely post but always lurking. I wish the O's would look into some of the stuff Eric Korem is doing for the University of Kentucky football team. Here's an article on it:

And the Youtube video talking about it:

Dang, and I only thought KY had a basketball team. :)

This whole Brady workout thing is the biggest hoax since the Wizard of Oz. Brady isn't doing anything that cant be found in 100's of gyms across the country. As it relates to performance on a baseball field, there is no evidence that Brady has helped anyone. In fact just as many players performance has gone down as up after working out with Brady in the off season. Yet some how threads keep getting made about how good he is. To me its as baffling as Justin Bieber and Paris Hilton being famous.

Sure, it takes the workouts to an extra level, BUT does it take the player to an extra level in performance? Does Brady's workout make a significant difference to Nick Markakis the baseball player if Nick instead chooses to stay at home, work out 4-5 days a week and do track work at his local HS, under the supervision of a personal trainer?

Where is the anecdotal proof that Brady's workouts (besides possibly being tougher) actually are any better than what the general baseball population is doing?

I've wondered this for quite awhile.

Have Brady's workouts actually helped any of the players improve on anything? Didn't Matusz and Hunter both do Brady's wokout, when they were still considered starters?

Hunter and Matusz are successful in their current roles. Because of Brady. No one saw 99 on Tommy or 94 on Brian before the pump up.

"... in their current roles."

Both of them were starters when they worked out w/ Brady. They've since both lost their starting jobs and have been pushed to the bullpen. Yes, they're both throwing harder, but most starters end up throwing harder when they become relievers. That's not new.

The question is, for all of the hype that people put into these Brady workouts, has there actually been any improvement on the field from any of these guys?

Hunter and Matusz were Post Starter before they worked with Brady. One of the reasons they did.

They are both stronger and throw harder than they did before. Even in relief roles.

Really? Did they both just start working w/ Brady last offseason? (thought it was at least 2 years ago) Because 2013 was the first full season they were both relievers. Matusz had 16 starts last year (2012); Hunter had 20.

As for the increased velocity, again, most pitchers throw harder in relieve vs. being a starter. Obviously, Hunter has seen a larger-than-usual jump in velocity, but Matusz hitting 94 doesn't seem all that big of a deal. He was in the low-90's as a starter when he came up.

No there has not. It's a complete mystery to me. For some reason the members at OH have bought into this farce.

" because of Brady"? This is highly doubtful.

All true, but Matusz came off the worst year of any starter in history. And Tommy Hunter was Tommy "Long Ball" Hunter the whole season. By last year, you meant 2012 right?
