Ervin Santana now seeking a one-year deal (Braves close to a deal)

Recommended Posts

What about $30M-$36M? I guess he thinks he's going to dominate and get a $20M per contract in 2015? Me, I take the guaranteed $30M and ask for incentives or a player option.

Yep...head scratcher...maybe that's where this will end up, who knows.

But what are the odds he repeats that performance?

Well Bud Norris has done nothing to make me want to run him out of the rotation. 5 scoreless innings this spring.

If I were him I would try for 3 year contract at 12 million a year over 1 year 14 million.

Gonzalez is just as likely for pen if we somehow get another Santana.

This is exciting! I think we've got a very good shot. What an offseason that would be.

50/50 no one knows.

If ever a post summed up a poster...

According to the Rojas guy, via MLBTraderumors, we offered 13 plus incentives. So, he can top 14 with us I would think.
Agreed, good info.

Other way around I think. The way I read it is that they offered $14M plus incentives and we offered $13M flat.

Either way DD is a genius for playing the market this way. This will likely never happen again.

@AndrewRickli: Welcome to #Birdland @ErvinSantana_54

The plot thickens!

Ah, the infamous AndrewRickl is heard from again.

Question: Blue Jays are birds too. Have they ever used the term Birdland?

Off topic opinion: the reggae themed "Come to Birdland" jingle was far and away the worst ever season them ever used by the Orioles.

The more and more I hear it sounds like the Orioles are becoming the favorites. What a blow to Blue Jay fans it would be to finally do something after a terrible offseason and then it turns out to be a dud.

Agreed. "These kids are good!" for a team that was neither young, nor any good, was the worst slogan.
