Honestly' date=' I did not see a single pitch by Britton called a ball that should have been called a strike, framing or not. Jmho.[/quote']

It's on Britton no doubt, but Holland the next inning hit the exact same spot Britton hit a couple times, only Perez received it better and got the call. Wasn't just Britton though...seemed like Hundley gave up on close pitches all night long rather than framing. Dunno, maybe it's just me.

I just don't like Hundley in general. No arm, no bat, framing is bad, not great at blocking pitches.

He did have that nice play at the plate tonight. And I understand Joseph is little better. Just sayin'

1. Darren O'Day - Can only be trusted as a RH specialist the rest of the playoffs

1A. Zach Britton - Awful.

2. Brian Matusz - Raul Ibanez. Alex Gordon. Should have left him off the roster for this round too.

3. J.J. Hardy - Big play in the 4 run inning for the Royals. Gotta make a better throw there. If that play is made, only one run scores that inning.

4. Chris Tillman - 5 innings against the Tigers and not even that tonight.

Hardy play in the 4th

Tillman

Starts inning

Moustakas-quick out

Escobar- Really hard to walk him Tillman goes 2-0 then gives him a meatball HR

Aoki- 1-2 count Tillman gives him a meatball single

Cain Walks him on 4 pitches

Hosmer K's

A lot of fail lead to the Pearce drop.

What about the bobble by Schoop on the bases clearing double? From sec 10, looked like he was booting it around and taking his time. Definitely didn't look in a hurry to throw it in. I still don't understand how that wasn't a 2B and an E from my seat.

Britton was awful but he came into a tie game, left with the game tied, and none of his base runners scored, so I don't see how we can pin any of this L on him. Buck managed the pen kinda strangely - why did he go to DOD before Britton?

KC beat us at our own game. We'll get 'em tomorrow behind a Boddicker-like Game Two gem!

It was a double and an E, but Tillman was still charged with all of those runs scoring which seemed odd. If Schoop receives it cleanly, which is why they gave him the error, the third run does not score.

And I know Nick likes to play the alleys but a LHB was up. Where the heck was he on that ball and could he have been moving any slower getting to it?

I love Nick but he's not worth 14m to play RF. He's just to slow.

Watching Britton tonight gave me flashbacks of Rich Ankiel in the 2000 NLDS.

Ankiel COMPLETELY lost the strike zone. Like mentally. He's said afterwards that he simply could not throw it over the plate if his life depended on it. Britton, on the other hand, threw his regular sinker just below the knees but the ump didn't call the close ones and the Royals didn't swing at any of them. It's different worry but it's not that Britton was wild or has a mental thing where he couldn't locate the zone.

6.Buck- Sending Tillman out for the 5th. Taking Hunter and Gausman out way to early.

This one I didn't get. Tillman was so bad. Why would you let Tillman face the heart of their order for a third time?

And Hardy's arm just isn't that great. Still very accurate, but the strength isn't that great.

Tonight's goat was far and away J.J. Hardy.

His terrible throw on the Butler grounder in the 5th was devastating, and inexcusable.

Billy Butler is THE slowest runner in the the American League. Hardy needed to be aware of the situation. He had time to gather himself and throw, but he rushed his throw completely unnecessarily, and bounced it on a wet field. Just a complete lack of situation awareness that is so disappointing from a veteran player.

Hardy's poor throw set up Gordon's lucky bloop hit down the line and led to 3 runs. Tillman, as poorly as he pitched all night, should have gotten out of the inning without allowing a single run.

What happend on the fly ball to Markakis? AT the game it looked like he jogged to it? Did he not see it or did assume it was foul?

It was a broken bat. Those are always tough to get a read on. I would guess he thought it was hit deeper and harder than it was.

If the Royals have to rely on JJ Hardy making a poor throw every game in order to win this series or Zach not being in the groove every game in order to win this series , I will take those odds every day and twice on Sunday. Go Os!!!

Tillman pitching like a deuce not an ace. But Matusz....he has ONE job on this roster. That's IT. And he totally stunk it up. He can't be trusted in pressure situations since he's so damn rusty.
