How about the good play tonight? Nick had a great game. Flaherty came up big. De Aza. EVEN DOD got the big DP in a super clutch inning. We lost. OK. We can come back and still win this series. Ive NEVER been prouder of this team.

Thanks for keeping it positive, Roy. Fully agreed. We can still do this. Not easily, but nothing good rarely comes easily.

Britton was awful but he came into a tie game, left with the game tied, and none of his base runners scored, so I don't see how we can pin any of this L on him. Buck managed the pen kinda strangely - why did he go to DOD before Britton?

KC beat us at our own game. We'll get 'em tomorrow behind a Boddicker-like Game Two gem!

Eh, yeah he didn't get the loss, but in a tie game at home, you expect your shut down closer to maybe go two innings. If he does his job, things are totally different.

Roy Firestone has become the voice of reason, BOTH on the man board, AND in the game thread:

WHEN WE WERE LOSING BY A SCORE OF 4-0:

We've got plenty of at-bats left ...

WHEN WE WERE LOSING BY A SCORE OF 5-1:

Its just too damned early to make any sweeping statements ... it's a 7-game series. A lot of baseball is still left to be played.

Speaking of game threads. I only have my phone. And can not edit your date.

Essentially the pitching lost this game. It was probably the worst total pitching effort in an O's game all year. Let's just hope it was a one off due mainly to bad weather, too much adrenalin and correctable mechanics. Even Gausman and Miller, who didn't give up any runs, didn't look very good and had some luck go their way.

Well for the series Steve Pearce his leading the list as top goat. First with the failure to catch Hardy's one hopper that lost game 1, to not being able to get a run in with the base loaded and one out and a drawn in infield today

Too bad he's a good guy, but nothing in his career has prepared him for this moment. He looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Really tight.

Don't know that we have any other option for 1B, but at least have to move him out of the #5 whole. Maybe Paredes at 3B and Flaherty at 1B to load up on LH bats against Guthrie.

The O's have been awesome, but covering up for the loss of Machado at 3B and Davis at 1B maybe finally catching up with them.

KC has had a horseshoe up their asses all series. I lived thru the 69 Mets so I guess I can get through this.

I don't blame Pearce. He's a career backup for a reason. This is on Davis taking pills.

Davis hasn't been good all year. You expect him to be different now?

Well, it wouldn't have at least been nice to find out.

I feel like I just watched the same game twice, one late at night and rainy, one during the day and cloudy. Bad starting pitching, fall behind, tie it up, waste a chance to go ahead, then their shut-down bullpen really shuts it down and ours doesn't. For nine hours.

Davis catches that ball in game 1.

That's super, but Davis would have been playing 3b and maybe not even made a play on that ball. What's your point?

1. Darren O'Day - Can only be trusted as a RH specialist the rest of the playoffs

1A. Zach Britton - Awful.

2. Brian Matusz - Raul Ibanez. Alex Gordon. Should have left him off the roster for this round too.

3. J.J. Hardy - Big play in the 4 run inning for the Royals. Gotta make a better throw there. If that play is made, only one run scores that inning.

4. Chris Tillman - 5 innings against the Tigers and not even that tonight.[/quote

Oh brother.
