2015 1st Round (25) - D.J. Stewart - OF - Florida State

Recommended Posts

Pretty much a disaster. At .191 in 35 games in low A ball. This pick is a complete dud. If he is in the system after next year, I will be shocked.

Look at Hobgood, if the player doesn't quit there isn't much to be lost in letting them toil away in the minors trying to find themselves. I don't expect them to protect him in the rule V draft, but at this rate I don't expect anyone to claim him either.

Any example of first round picks that aren't in a system two years later? It doesn't cost much to keep a player in the low minors, he will be around for a while.

Players who were signed when they were 19 or older and have played in professional baseball for four years are eligible, as are players who were signed at 18 and have played for five years.

So, he will not be eligible for rule five draft protection until the 2019 off season.

Well he is no bryce harper but he has raised his average by 3225points in 20 days. He gas an obp of 367 and has surpassed his HR total for last yr.

He isn't but I'll reserve judgment until the end of the year.
