I keep a semi up-to-date list of where all of our players in the minors are. There are a couple in there that I couldn't locate even though they show as "active" in MiLB.com. In my experience MiLB generally on point with knowing where players in pro-ball are at all times, but not always (eg where is Brady Wager?).

I followed up with a player who showed as active for the Ironbirds despite not being on their roster. Justin Viele was drafted in 2013 by the O's in the 37th round. In 2014, at 23 years old, he had an OPS of .473 between Aberdeen and Delmarva. He was even in camp in 2015.

So what happened?

I found an article written by him about getting cut by the O's and the next steps. I thought it was a good read. Check it out. He seems like a great guy.

In summary: I found him!

Very cool. Thanks for finding and posting. Lest we forget, that attitude is what life is all about.

Six years later, he is one of the world-shocking San Francisco Giants co-hitting coaches, helping guide a team of oldster bats down to the wire with Friedman's Dodgers.   The Giants in the last three years have improved from 26th to 17th to 3rd MLB-wide at its chase rate/O-Swing%.

This has to be the most amazing thread bump of all time.  Even OFFNY couldn’t have pulled that off!

Viele is a nice unique search string for content titles only.   It also finds weams' 37th round draft pick thread from even longer back in the day.    I figure Holt is a little closer to the regime than Long if any kind of coach cosmetics happen in the offseason.
