"Wow offer made to Davis!" (7 years - $150M Not one nickle more)

Recommended Posts

The contract we offered of 7/150 was too much. If he has now asked for 8/200 then it is time to thank him for his time in Baltimore and move on. Wish him well.

I am hoping beyond hope that the Orioles shift the focus to filling more pressing needs than a first baseman. We need at least one OFer. Pitching would also be welcome. They need to be engaged right now with several players who are available to help in 2016 and beyond. Let Scott Boras see if he can find another team dumb enough to pay 8/200.

@WNST

Chris Davis believed to be seeking $200 million over eight years, per @JonHeymanCBS. Who would have thought such a thing a year ago?

Let someone else give him that.. I like Chris but come on man.

Brit just said the reports of O's upping the bid were false. She likes Alex Gordon BTW.

That's a relief. You can't negotiate with terrorists. If the Orioles decide to up from 150 then it's all over... Boras will have you right where he wants and he'll get your firstborn child.

Please just have the good sense to walk away! Thank you so much Mr. Angelos for springing for the cash, but this is bad business. We can appropriate that kind of money to build a much better baseball team without Chris Davis. No hard feelings, lets just be smart and move on.

I second this. Shalom, Chris, if $150 isn't enough. Let him go, PA.

Meh. A little hard feelings. Screw this guy. After the crap he pulled on his team in 2014, and now this, I would be a little salty if they moved up one inch from the 7/150 offer.

Is my thought process here irrational? Sure, but screw him.

Thank Chris and wish him luck. Hopefully he goes to the NL. Sign Upton and Span/Alvarez.

I agree, who is spans agent. I would try to avoid Boras at all cost.

    • I watched most of today's game and was pleasantly surprised to see a more confident Davis earn the two BB's and the opportunity single.  His D looked good but he did lumber around third to home and scored easily. On Sisco, he looked good behind the plate from the few innings I saw.  He has filled out more since last year.
    • Yeah, agree with your second point, it's not a huge deal. And agree it's probably mainly a style of play issue. But with regard to your first point, back when we were in the ACC it felt like things were way more balanced (other than blatant ref bias in Duke games, and maybe UNC games). There were actually games back in the day where it felt like we'd get favoritism against the bottom feeders. Even our current out of conference games, you might see an extra call or two go our way. Simply doesn't happen in conference games. Guess it's the big ten style of play and the fact Turgeon rarely has had big inside bangers (other than Fernando). I do wonder how much of it is the intangible of how well the coach works the refs.
    • Wow, Delmon bringing to life the phrase, “Someone put up a tent, the circus has come to town!”
    • Yep.  We usually sat in the upper deck so the first glimpse of the green grass was walking up the ramps but as a little kid I wasn't tall enough to see over the side walls of the ramps to glimpse the green without jumping up.
    • Thanks very much.  I’m glad to.  I didn’t make it to the Braves game as I don’t do the road games so we’re sorry about that.  The positive is that I use those days, like tomorrow to visit the minor league complex and let you guys know what I see and learn there.  I didn’t see that prospect Langaliers behind the plate, but I think his hit was Carroll’s one that he gave up in Cody’s otherwise clean IP.     As far as Davis, my notes from the AB in the first inning was a little bit of patience as he sat on two down and in pitches consecutively before walking.  And then I guess it was a pleasant surprise to see a little opp field single dropped in too.  But at the workouts and practice sessions where I’m watching him play defense he looks solid with the glove and not slower because of the additional weight.  Turning and throwing with accuracy is in no way an issue.  Getting to balls and hops is in no way an issue.   I didn’t see the Sisco tag that you were taking about.  Was he showing good D too?
    • So, he’s improving the third time through. He’s a nugget.
    • Or a left fielder, or a right fielder.
