Are we going to get the game in tonight?

Recommended Posts

It's been raining all day long and it's not just a misty drizzle, either. It's moderate rainfall with very short periods of heavier rain. It hasn't stopped yet today. There's a low pressure center southeast of Baltimore

spinning up moisture and doesn't seem to be going anywhere in any hurry. Looks like it will be difficult to get this one in, but we may get a break tonight.

Orioles always wait longer then most teams so should be awhile before we know.

But, more rain in forecast tomorrow. :(

Just a small chance of thunderstorms for a couple hours. Most of the day is forecasted to be sunny. I think a double header on Saturday is by far the most likely scenario at this point.

I'd put the chances of tonight being played at less than 10%

This is making my ticket-buying decision much harder. I'm sitting 100 yards from OPACY and I'm sad because I know I'm probably not going to go tonight. :(

if you're a gambling man like myself, buy good seats super cheap right now on stub hub. If they end up playing, you might be able to resell them between 6-7pm for the $6-10 you paid. if not, you're out a couple bucks...$21 in my case

but if they play a day/night tomorrow....you just scored good seats for almost nothing...

True. There are some club level tix (covered!) that can be had on the CHEAP tonight. Thinking about it hard.

There are terrace box seats for $6 that are covered. I have no ability to go to the game tonight so I'm taking the gamble its rained out.

TRIPLE HEADER Mother's Day brawl. Come one come all.

My vote's for a winner-take-all 27 inning game on Sunday.

Odd # sections...I see 23, 43, 53, 59

You're the man, dude. Thanks.

I may grab some cheapies and either brave the rain or pray for it.

Looks like there's a window of a couple hours, lining up during gametime. It probably should be ppd, but they're probably try to get it in and it'll be ugly. Baseball is baseball though :noidea:

    • There is definitely something to be said to waiting a year. If he has a healthy 2021, I would say he will be a 2-3 WAR player.  That should make him more valuable than he is now and that certainly could be part of the thinking. My only issue with that is his injury history.  I’m willing to gamble that we can get 75-80 cents on the dollar now (compared to what a healthy 2021 could bring us) vs waiting.
    • You'll get Eshelman and you'll like it.
    • Makes the games interesting at least. I think O's ownership could throw the fans a bone and try and add a few good players. Top draft picks are nice but I really hope this is the last "burn it to the ground" season.
    • You never know when the Jays will just stop spending.  Remember when they had a team in contention and their corporate ownership just flatly refused to add any payroll for the stretch run?
    • The Jays had a payroll as high as $182 mm as recently as 2016, but they’d cut it all the way to $64 mm in 2019.    They were projected at $76 mm last year before the pandemic.     Obviously, they have a lot of room to increase payroll.    Like the O’s, they’ve been clipping coupons for a couple of years.    But they are a little ahead of us on the development curve with the ascendance of their second generation major leaguers (Biggio, Bichette and Guerrero).    It’s a logical time for them to add some free agents.
    • I don’t really think this applies to Baumann anyway.   It’s not like this guy spent a year at AAA and excelled there.   He had a really good half season at AA in 2019 and then had to be shut down early at the alternate site this year.   Sure some guys like that can jump straight to the majors, but honestly I’d just make sure he’s healthy, let him start the year in AAA and consider moving him up if he’s pitching well there.   I’d probably be advocating that even if the service time issue didn’t exist, but the service time issue makes that a pretty easy call IMO.   I don’t consider it to be holding him back to test him at a level of the minors where he’s never pitched before.
