Do we have any chance of signing Blohm, Bakst, Mauch or Brecht?

Doesn't seem like we'll have a ton of money left over after the top 10.

Maybe Blohm. Unlikely that any other high schooler signs. Not sure what the deal is with Bonilla.

Does Bonilla have much choice? If I'm correct, I believe he was a 5th year senior so he has no college eligibility left.

Not really. Good catch.

Yeah, that's why I'm unsure what his deal is.

His dad's off the O's payroll and the fam needs some extra coin. ;) Would he do better by going indy or waiting past the deadline and signing as a "free agent"? Not sure of the rules here...:scratchchinhmm:

btw - the totals spent column is not updated accurately - get on that spreadsheet! :slytf:

He cannot be a free agent until he goes undrafted. He turns 23 in October. He would be better served by taking the $100K that is probably being offered him and getting his career started. He was probably one of the older players in this years draft.

Not sure if it is relevant but he has taken down his old profile picture on Twitter, waiting to see what he replaces it with (Bonilla)

Without much money left over, I don't see them getting Blohm done.

With no leverage, I doubt that first offer is 100K. Remember, just because teams can spend up to 100K on a player after the 10th round, very few will get much more than 10K. A 5th year senior, 13th round pick is probably lucky to get a 5-10K bonus.

From June 21st

" Of course, Blohm wasn't in the warehouse to announce he'd signed with the Orioles and he wasn't playing for the Orioles when he took the mound on Sunday. But, after attending the press conference for the Brooks Robinson High School All-Star Game and later playing in the game, the question everyone wanted to know was did the recent time spent at Camden Yards help sway his decision to forego playing for the University of Maryland and instead join the Orioles organization.

"Either way it's going to be a hard decision," said Blohm, moments after Sunday's game. "It's a big family decision and we're going to take a while to make it. It's going to be an interesting decision, and whatever one it is I'm going to work as hard as I can to make it my right decision."

Might be a reason that a guy with a 98 mph fastball lasted until the 13th rd. Unreasonable demands. I don't know much about the draft. But if he was going to sign for 10-20k then he would have probably been drafted in the the first 10 rounds. Since his family has money he has more leverage than the usual 22 year old, 5th year Sr.

If I'm not mistaken, we're still paying his father some cash every year, right?
