Minecraft - OPACY

Recommended Posts

So I had previously been working on a server a couple of years ago that is no longer around where I had built a fair amount of OPACY.

After the server went down I was quite dejected until, well, the other day. I decided to get a Minecraft Realm and start the to-scale construction of OPACY over again.

If anyone would like to help critique (good or bad) I can post screenshots as I go. Also if anyone has any photos of the stadium, architecture of the warehouse, inside the warehouse, or especially the concourse level I could greatly use them!

I have not been able to return to Camden Yards since 2001 when I left for Las Vegas. I hope that changes this year for an OH night...

From the beginning of the warehouse construction to where it is now (still nowhere near done). I know that some of the colours are wrong but it's all I have to work with so yeah, heh. The warehouse measures slightly longer than the actual building as working in meters instead of feet makes spacing impossible.

I'm extending the original build which was just going to be OPACY to include the surrounding hotels/buildings as well. The Hilton might not make it in though...

Please leave any feedback that can help me in this project!

Replacing the entire roof and drain pipes off the red. Not a fan of it but looks much better now.

Also made a change to the lights above the WH and am close to starting the building area behind the CF scoreboard.

Clearing all of the field area.

Putting down the field.

Grass spreading

I've got some texture pack issues with the grass but I'll have it fixed before I finish. Also fixed up the RF scoreboard adverts and removed the placeholder for the CF scoreboard.

Thank you my friend! Glad someone is following along with me on this build!

This next one is where I had left off last night. I had been clearing the stands area for most of the evening.

Today after work I decided to see if there was an easier way to place dynamite in order to clear faster than I was (the field area itself took 3-4 hours to clear, while the area around it would have taken the whole week).

While I was looking it up I found that apparently they had added a /fill command that I did not know about. Essentially, what would have taken all week ended up taking about 30 minutes to clear... unreal!!

I've built Camden Yards and the Ravens Stadium with my two kids. I know how time consuming it is. Mine didn't look nearly as good as yours. Just wondering why you didn't start with a flat world?

I'm playing on a server with my 2 brothers and when we're all on together we play normal MC. Plus I am going to build more things than just OPACY, some of which may involve mountainous areas!

Busy work week this week but I'm back at it.

Just started on some seating in CF and right-CF plus added the grounds crew area, and a walkway leading to Nicole's office on the RF line.

    • 20/20 hindsight.  Which is kind of a cynical way to look at the draft through a retroactive crystal ball. The Tigers didn't have the greatest scouts ever, or a bunch of wizards, telling them to pick Justin Verlander #2 in 2004.  They just had the #2 pick and most of the league would have taken him.  Just like in 2006 when the Rockies took Great Reynolds #2, they weren't idiots, he was going to go in the top few picks in any case, but he just didn't work out. Bowden is going back in time and telling us which lottery numbers were worth it based on which got picked out of the ping pong ball machine.
    • I like Tork too, but what you have outlined are Mark Trumbo's 162 game avg.  And people were upset at his 3yr-37.5 mil contract.  So, if that is the player I am getting with defensive limitations, hard pass.
    • What if EVERY year the MLB holds a pre-season draft, just like Fantasy Baseball?  The players can renegotiate a new contract each year based on their most recent experience, and it evens the playing field for all teams.   The players (many of them anyway) clearly don't care about the fans, so let's show them we only care about the uniform.
    • The comp is more to do with them having similar stances, slightly pull heavy swings, and profile than production. I googled Mookie Betts as a prospect and his scouting grades: Hit: 65 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 45 | Field: 55 https://www.mlb.com/news/mookie-betts-leads-bostons-updated-top-20-list/c-85946126 Here is Martin's scouting grades from the same place: HIT: 65 POWER: 50 RUN: 55 ARM: 50 FIELD: 55 https://www.mlb.com/prospects/draft/austin-martin-668885 Pretty similar profiles. Of course 95% of players with those scouting grades don't produce like Mookie Betts will.
    • #50THANNIVERSARY On this day in 1970, the Orioles defeated the Indians 5-4.  Dick Hall was credited with the win for his 1/3 of an inning of work in relief of Jim Palmer: Hall got Ray Fosse to pop out to second to end the 7th inning.  The Birds scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th which led to Hall's victory. Palmer hit his first homerun of the season leading off the third inning.  Don Buford went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI as well. For the record, Pete Richert recorded the save for the Orioles. BOX SCORE
    • Just to clarify, he’s talking specifically about pitchers that have justified being picked.
    • No, but the salary cap makes things very wonky in the NBA and NHL. While the NFLs system really screws over the players. The only way I see the MLBPA giving into a salary cap is if they cut the years of control right in half.  Which would basically change strategy away from developing home grown talent.
