And now for something completely different!

Since we've gone off on a little tangent...

Carol had no idea this was coming.

Good lord '50's! Those clueless white folks in the audience clapping on the upbeat instead of the downbeat! Makes my brain hurt!

The country beat...

AND Western!

"Use your joink-joinks Speed!"

Button 5 I think...

35 year running joke with me and my sisters. Religiously watched Speed after school. And Cap't. Chesapeake.

I watched the same thing when I was little! Man my sister hated when it was my turn to watch tv. Was Captain Chesapeake's sidekick a seamonster/seadragon? My memory is a little fuzzy on that.

    • Boarman's Market in Highland often has some good ones in their butcher/seafood section.  Great place, this old fashioned farmers market with hand painted signs in an area of HoCo that was once all farms but is now full of neighborhoods with million dollar houses.  But Boarman's hasn't changed. I'll swing by there on a Friday onmy way to Blacksburg for a football weekend and pick up a pound of their fresh made daily breakfast sausage for us to have at our tailgate the next day.  Got a dozen crabcakes there once and we grilled them at our tailgate the next day and they were fantastic.
    • Timbuktu’s are good but they prices have skyrocketed.  The the Olive Grove which is right up the street from G&M.   They are comparable to G&M in size and lump meat but have a little more zing to them.
    • I ordered crab cakes in Columbus Ohio once and I can’t recommend any more highly to never do that. They were about the size of a quarter and we’re pretty inedible. I had some good crab cakes at Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park in Maine a few times.
    • It is exactly the same as the minor leagues.  Think of the 30 to 34 guys not on the MLB 26-28-30 man roster as being Norfolk. A guy on the 40 who doesn't make the team has to be optioned.  Promote a non 40 man roster guy from the 60 to the ML roster and you have to make room on the 40 man.   It's exactly the same as the minors.  A guy who goes down has to stay down for 10 days, etc. But don't call it the taxi squad because that term is used for the 3 guys you are allowed to bring on a road trip just in case you have an injury and travel is difficult to get a replacement.  Those are 3 guys from the 60, they make the trip.  At least one must be a C.  But that's all, they aren't even announced.  If an injury does occur and one gets activates, all the above rules apply.
    • Players have started reporting, workout will begin tomorrow for international guys who just arrived yesterday. They had to complete their COVID testing. If results come back clean the international guys will be on field tomorrow. Most are in hotels covered by the team for the season vs trying to acquiring housing for a 60 game season.
    • “My point was that no matter what happened with the union, the way things unfolded with the second spike,’’ Manfred told USA TODAY Sports, “we would have ended up with only time for 60 games, anyway. As time went on, it became clearer and clearer that the course of the virus was going to dictate how many games we could play.’’ “As it turned out, the reality was there was only time to play 60 games,’’ Manfred said. “If we had started an 82-game season [beginning July 1], we would have had people in Arizona and Florida the time the second spike hit.’’ “We just weren’t going to be able to play more than 60 games at that point,’’ Manfred said, “with everything being shut down. The reality is that we’re going to be lucky if we 60 games now given the course of the virus.’’ “I know it hasn’t looked particularly pretty in spots, but having said that, if we can pull off this 60-game season, I think it was the best we were going to do for our fans given the course of the virus.” “It’s the calendar,” Manfred said. “We’re playing 60 games in 63 days right now. I don’t see, given the reality of the health situation over the past few weeks, how we were going to get going any faster than the calendar we’re on right now. No matter what the state of those negotiations were.” You're taking one soundbite out of an interview. I wouldn't put it past MLB to stall to get what they want at all - but acting like a one-off comment during a Dan Patrick interview is some admission of guilt is a pretty big leap. It wouldn't have any standing in court.
