Currently getting good rotation on my laptop is Impossible Dream by Patty Griffin (especially Truth #2) and Live Disc 1 by Alison Kraus and Union Station.

Also being played heavily is Melo by Durutti Column.

And I have the song Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps by Cake playing non stop in my head too because I went out with a girl this week who had it on nonstop repeat in her car.

I thought Silverchair and Days of the New were going to be HUGE.

It certainly wasn't for a lack of breakout success for Days Of the New. They where an all acoustic rock band, which is quite rare to see these days. What really hindered DOTN is the fact that once the band got big, Travis Meeks (lead singer/guitar) apparently never got along with the rest of the band, and the other guys Todd Whitener, Matt Taul, and Jesse Vest, where actually forced out of the band.

However those other three guys stuck around and with a new lead singer formed Tantric, all though they haven't had much mainstream success overall are IMO one of the best bands out there today.

Anyway, if it wasn't for the fact that the origional DOTN bandmembers didn't get along, I imagine that the origional DOTN could probably still be successful today.

Listened to some of The Concretes on the way into work. Really digging them lately... they sound like the love child of Mazzy Star and the Velvet Underground, just happy. What all pop music would be if somebody would get around to shooting Britney.

Driving West with the IPOD has been awesome for music. We get up and on the road and my wife axes, "What do you wanna hear today?" "Hmmmmmmmm - we're in Nebraska - How about some Boss?" Bingo! Going through Nevada I said, "Some old time country western". Patsy and Porter Waggoner and Johnny Cash sounded so goooooooooooood! I can't wait for the West coast for Steely Dan and the Beach Boyz.
