The Olive Grove is owned by the same family as G&M. I believe the guys are brothers. Most of their menu is Italian so they really dont compete for the same dollar.
The Maryland way of cooking crabs with Old Bay is certainly unique and I agree that there is really nothing close. But, there is no difference between Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab and Louisiana or Texas blue crab. Except the crabs coming up from there tend to be larger than what is being harvested here and mainly because they are more plentiful in the gulf. Another thought is they probably have a different sluff cycle than Maryland due to the water temperature. The Lousiana fishery is actually a bay thats attached to the gulf but a bit further north and likely cooler water than the gulf itself.
The Olive Grove is just down the road from G&M, and I hear they are as good, but cant say, as we never ventured there.
My family is from here and well versed in cooking crabs the "Maryland" way, and like you said, its not the same thing.
Sunset is another good place!
For all of the G&M hate by Beefsupreme, When I go there they are always very busy and as you pass the tables to your seat most/many are eating the crab cakes.
It kind of reminds me of the claim that people made years ago that they could tell the difference between Maryland Blue Crab and Louisiana Blue Crab. Just just can’t .... it’s plain and simple.
Shoreline Seafood Company in Crofton MD.....available year round
I would take them every holiday to my parents in Jacksonville Florida every Christmas. They pack them with ice packs in a styrofoam insulated box. I also added crab meat and or soft crabs to the container.
They definitely ship them!
LOL, I was looking at the 1B list and wondering why Adam Dunn wasn’t there. Then I got to LF:
“In all fairness, Adam Dunn could've made this list at several different positions, we just picked left field because that's where he had the most starts. He also was terrible at first base and in right field.”
