This is awesome. DD quietly has a really good offseason with both hands and feet tied behind his back. Cashner and Cobb on the best value deals out threre. Likely opening the season with 3 rule guys on the OD roster.

Or did Brady do this?

Likely: Araujo

Unlikely: Mesa

Iffy, especially if Cobb signs: Cortes.

Might be just one Rule 5 comes north.

I was against the Davis deal but I am sure I was happy about a lot of other bad deals.  When Jiminez was signed I remember saying something like he is bound to be a lot better than Freddy Garcia.

Most GMs that post here have a better track record than Red Auerbach.

Can't be starting in Bowie unless he's on a rehab or has been optioned. He'll be pitching sim games with the team or in Sarasota, but he'll be on the roster.

He can sign a MiL deal that converts into a Major League deal if they have to.

Likely, can you put a player on the DL if they aren't ready for the start of the season?

You should maybe phrase that better. Didn't work so well for Custer or Sam Houston...

It worked out for Sam Houston. He became governor of Texas.

Castro and Cortes to the pen. And the rest, agree.

And this is the domino effect of the signing.  This stregnthens the bullpen too, where Cortes goes from a shaky young starting pitcher, to a potentially lethal left hander out of the pen.  As well as Castro from the right side.

Araujo and Mesa... probably goodbye to them.

Last year, the combo of Ubaldo, Miley, and Hellickson started 67 games.  Cobb and Cashner get these starts.  Huge upgrade.  Tillman started 19 last year.  He is a big if, but the improvement in the rotation is huge.

Once Cobb is with us,

Cobb, Bundy, Gausman, Cashner, Tillman

Brach, Givens, O’day, Castro, Bleier, Wright, Cortes

I think Araujao gets a small audition until Cobb is ready.

DD will take credit if he is interviewing elsewhere next year.

There's no need.

If Tillman struggles we could always make a trade for another starter.  I don't see him getting as long a rope as he did last year.
