You could probably skip him all the way to Bowie and he wouldn't be overwhelmed.

I wonder how long they leave him down in Delmarva.  Really thought he would start in Frederick based on his age and absolute dominance in Aberdeen last year.

Obviously has some serious deception and movement to be missing bats like that with a high 80's fastball.

I think they are gun shy after Akin and Sedlock didn’t blow people away after skipping Delmarva. I said when he was drafted that he was too advanced for Aberdeen, and I said in the offseason that he was ready to jump to Frederick.

How is he compared to Wells, in terms of age and experience,  since they kept Wells in Delmarva all of last season despite the dominance?

He’s almost 2 years older than Wells was last year. I bet he’ll be more dominant than Wells was in Low A. He’s pitched 200+ NCAA innings and pitched in the Cape Cod League which is practically Low A level of competition, so he has much more experience.

Agreed.    I think the O’s need to be ready to make promotions to Frederick after 6 weeks or so if these guys dominate.

If they show that the level isn't challenging them at all, then go for it. Makes the rotation situations in Frederick and Bowie more interesting too

It's going to be tough to crack the Frederick rotation, which also currently has seven starters in it.

Seems to be some openings in Bowie though.  A starter getting promoted from Delmarva will likely have to be paired with one getting promoted from Frederick or at least demoted to their bullpen.

Lowther and Baumann both look like good candidates for an early promotion but I'm not sure there is a pitcher in Frederick who fits that bill.

Alvarado is probably the top candidate if they pair early promotions (not saying they will).

He spent 140 innings in Frederick last year, and his peripherals were actually pretty solid. He’s 23, and he’s a command above stuff guy. He was sharp his first start, I could see him moving.

Then why  not have him in Bowie?

That’s what I said, if they move someone to Bowie he’d be the guy.

    • We didn’t rush anyone before.
    • Crazy that he is 22 already.  He turns 23 in September.  It’s time for him to start making strides on his command and control and push himself up to the majors.     Gotta figure if it doesn’t happen within the next year or so, that it may not happen at all.  Not that he can’t be a MLer but the ceiling is lowered significantly imo if he doesn’t show a lot of improvement soon.
    • Start Lowther at triple A . I want Os management to do this right unlike the Calvary. If he’s dominating there then bring him up but I am not about rushing prospects anymore if we are banking on these guys . Same with Rustchman. I wouldn’t be upset if he DOES NOT make his debut this year .
    • Ok great.  I’m glad to have heard you’re stance for the 15790th time.  It was so enlightening.
    • Obviously but it’s based off of what value they get by trading back and not by what’s available IMO. If they can trade #13 for a late one and early #2 (Jacksonville) they will absolutely do it imo! As that’s how they do things.    The rest of my argument is fact until he proves otherwise. It’s funny to me that you so arrogantly scream your wrong and I’m right and then argue both sides of the QB debate. I agree that you have to wait and see, and there is at least a chance all be it small that he drastically improves in accuracy and touch outside. But, I’m not banking on it and based on your previous wait and see position you aren’t enough to throw 100MM plus at him right now. Are the Ravens willing, we shall see but I think their actions speak louder than words as far as it happening now. The next two weeks as mentioned by EDC are gone and we haven’t heard anything else. But, I also know Harbaugh can be stubborn and is probably pushing for it thinking he can run them to the Super Bowl. I think it’s pretty obvious that it can get them to the playoffs but becomes a house of cards once there.

    • They will trade down if they view it as the best option.  They will make the pick if that is their best option and they will trade up if they view that as beneficial.  That’s how they do things.   The rest of your post is just about your bias and the same bs argument that I have grown tired of.
