When I read the profile on Bannon, he reminds me a little of Justin Turner when he was in our organization. It’s not a perfect comp, as Turner hit for a better average, struck out less and had a bit less power as a minor leaguer. But like Bannon he was regarded as kind of a fringy prospect who could play both 2B and 3B adequately but not great. It’s amazing what Turner turned himself into. Let’s hope Bannon can have half that degree of success.
Honestly, I just don’t care much. I have my own political views and I don’t take my cues from what the official positions of my sports teams are (if any) or what the athletes think or say on the topic. I watch and follow sports to have a distraction from the stresses of my own life and more serious news. I can see why it bothers you when politics invades that space, but I just ignore it, for the most part.
Oops! Asleep at the switch!
Well, I can’t really argue about Nevin over Pop, though I voted the other way. I really like Pop and was gratified to hear that he’s healthy and throwing pain-free. He should be a full go next spring and to me he’s a guy who could move really quickly if he recovers his stuff.
