Machado Trade Expectations

  1. 1. Regarding the return we receive, what are your expectations of whatever Machado trade takes place?

    • The return will be outstanding.
    • The return will be solid.
    • The return will be merely decent.
    • The return will be poor.
    • The return will be just terrible.
    • I expect we will not trade him at all, getting only a compensation pick in next year's draft.

O’s Should consider themselves EXTREMELY lucky if they got even 2 names from any of those lists plus 2 lottery tickets, even in a ZB/MM package.

I expected a comment like this .... But the rumors have all said 2 main pieces and 2 A ball types for Manny. Callis said that the Orioles should be able to get 1 very good prospect for Britton and 1 other guy.

I think your undervaluing the interest level at this point .... In my list I avoided loading front the teams top 10s .... Except for the Brewers.... I would tell them its Hiura or your out! Peralta is their #9, Dubon #10,  Medeiors #18 and C Rod #24. The only player in the top 100 is Hiura! I could adjust from Peralta but I'm lowering the Pitching demand from Burnes without asking for Ortiz.

Then you don't trade them together ....Give Them Brach for a 20-30 type. Britton should net you Peralta #9 & C Rod #24 and you would trade Manny for Hiura #1, Dubon #10, and Medeiros #18  .... Have to admit that might be a little high!   Maybe Hiura#1, Medeiros #18, and Henry #29? But I hate to lose Dubon..... Maybe I ask for Hiura, Mediros, and Henry for Manny and Dubon #10, and C-Rod for ZB

All of your proposals are too much. They just are. If Manny had another year under contract, maybe it would be a different story.

Maybe a little as I admitted in my amended post .... As I said you keep hearing 2 very good prospects and 2 others for Manny and Callis is the person I heard talk about Britton. He said if Britton is dominant over his next few outing he should net 1 very good prospect and 1 other player.

I believe he said that the Dodgers would be foolish to pass on a Manny deal over May or Lux. He said they were trending up but were in fact A ball players. He said that there is absolutely no guarantee on either making it and that Manny was the type of player who could make the Dodgers/Brewers a hands on favorite to get to the World Series. Said he was a real difference maker.

Oh I agree that they shouldn't let May and Lux keep them from making a deal. Manny's one of the best hitters around; he's a difference maker for sure.

I don't think Hiura's going anywhere.

Not that I want Erceg instead but do you think the Brewers let him go? I think I'd make the Brewer's in or out on Hiura. The Orioles need High Avg/High OBP guys that can help manufacture runs. Especially ones that can play good defense. The O's need to break the mold of poor fielding- 1 dimensional home run hitting strikeout leaders. Thats why I avoid Brett Phillips and why I'm sure the Brewers would rather trade him (90 Ks in 245 ABs ...YIKES)

You need to stop using preaseason numbers to evaluate these guys. Their values can be completely different, for example Yordan Alvarez. Some had him top 100ish some didn't, but not some have him as high as in the top 30. There's a huge difference in value there.

None of Erceg's numbers really stand out to me. I think they'd let him go, but I'm also not sure I really want him.

In light of the thread title, I have no idea what to expect at this point.

Not paying for Baseball America .... I'm using MLB.com. I'm okay with it Not being perfect and neither is BA. I bounce back and forth between there and  baseball reference. Fun to talk about and it doesn't have to be perfect

We’ve officially passed the number of pages/number of losses. So, higher number. Pages before Manny’s traded or Chris Davis’s batting average?

We are already there! Maybe pages compared to Davis's K's?

He's the Brewers 3 rated prospect according to MLB They rate his glove at 50 with a plus plus arm. He should develop power and his K-rate is only 1 for every 7 ABs....also walks more than 1 time for every 2 Ks. His average could be higher and he's struggled a bit in that department.

If he turned into a 260-270 avg , 320/330 OBP, and hit 20-25 he'd be a pretty nice player.
