Machado Trade Expectations

  1. 1. Regarding the return we receive, what are your expectations of whatever Machado trade takes place?

    • The return will be outstanding.
    • The return will be solid.
    • The return will be merely decent.
    • The return will be poor.
    • The return will be just terrible.
    • I expect we will not trade him at all, getting only a compensation pick in next year's draft.

No Nick, no Manny and no Davis during 2014 playoffs.  The stars just were not aligned that year.

No Wieters, Nick was hurt in 12 not 14.

I forgive Nick and Manny of course. Their absence was not self induced.  I really felt bad for Nick. Never Davis. A left handed power bat in that series would have made quite a bit of difference. Of course, if he had been bad, he would not have helped.

Not a bad package.  In your opinion since he's up in Philly now, do you think Enyel would be off the table.  My hope is still something like Medina, Enyel, Haseley, Crawford, and someone like Howard.

Enyel, would be a great get. I don't think he's off the table. That could be how the Phils "ramped up" their package.

Enyel in place of Kilome, and we have a great deal.

Agreed.  Like I said, it was only one game but I saw Enyel pitch in Pawtucket against the Paw Sox and he looked amazing.  If I remember correctly he was hitting 96 with his fastball.  Enyel and Medina, plus Haseley, plus another throw in, would be great.  Might cost both Britton and Manny though.

Yep. I think Machado and Britton are going in the same deal for 5 players. 3 for Manny. 2 for Zach.

Nick went 8 for 32 hitting w/1 HR 3rbi and a sb during the 2014 playoffs.

With Brewers needing offensive help and Phillies wanting Machado and bullpen help I see it coming down to those 2 teams.

LAD have the need and 4 players in BP's top 50 prospects. Add just one of those 4 to their offer and they get Manny.

Nick missed 2012 playoffs.  Wieters missed 2014 playoffs and most of the regular season.

Dodgers could also sign Manny to a long term deal.  He could be more than a rental.

Brewers or Indians would strictly be renting Manny.

The more I read about Spencer Howard. The more I like him.

Machado and Britton for Medina, Crawford, Haseley, Kilome, Howard

I'd be surprised if we were able to get Haseley their #3 and Medina their #2.

if so I'd like Medina, Haseley, Suarez/De Los Santos, Irvin, and Bannon

otherwise

Medina, Gamboa, Suarez , Irvin , and Muzzioti

I agree that the Dodgers will be hard to beat if they decide they want to win.

Verdugo , Smith, Lux, Ferguson, and Gonsolin would be tough to beat.

The Braves have been the team I favored most in any potential Machado deal, with the Dodgers now having pulled even. While the Braves getting Manny is unlikely it's nice to read of their interest at this stage, even fringe interest.

Assuming Seager returns healthy, they have no more reason than MIL or CLE.

    • I am saying that I don’t judge players solely on a single attribute or weakness.    Also, though this is the second straight year Alberto has had pretty disparate L/R splits,  those do take a long time to stabilize and he did not have drastic splits in the minors so I’m willing to await further data.   And finally, while we could find a better overall 2B, I doubt we could do it for less than $3 mm. Let me ask you this: 1.    Is there someone available for 2B who you think will be as good and as cheap or cheaper? 2.   If not, given the current state of our rebuild, do you think it’s worth spending more than $3 mm to get a better 2B?   If so, who would you like to sign and at what price would you guess we can get him?
    • I got disgusted and turned off last night’s game before Zimmermann was brought in.    I see his line looks pretty good — any impressions of how he looked?
    • Why not give it to Mo? You don’t really have a team MVP, so give it to the fans and who better to represent the fans than Mo?
    • Not sure I am understanding you here.  Are you saying the a projected 3M salary for Hanser who has a  266/284/367/651 vs right-handed pitching is acceptable?   And right-handed pitching is probably at least 70% of the pitchers faced.
    • No votes for our winningest pitcher, Thomas Eshelman? 😛
    • Too early to tell. The fact that the injuries have all been fairly different in nature I think makes it way too early to tell. The good news is he has had TJ and still has his stuff. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
    • OK, it’s been two weeks, so I’ve posted in bold the updated numbers from CDC.    Obviously, they have changed considerably, and do not support the conclusion that deaths were dropping by more than half per week.    The CDC numbers are still changing (increasing) as new data reaches the CDC, so I will update this again next week, as I originally said to wait 2-3 weeks.    CDC now says: “*Data during this period are incomplete because of the lag in time between when the death occurred and when the death certificate is completed, submitted to NCHS and processed for reporting purposes. This delay can range from 1 week to 8 weeks or more, depending on the jurisdiction and cause of death.“
