Machado Trade Expectations

Machado Trade Expectations

  1. 1. Regarding the return we receive, what are your expectations of whatever Machado trade takes place?

    • The return will be outstanding.
    • The return will be solid.
    • The return will be merely decent.
    • The return will be poor.
    • The return will be just terrible.
    • I expect we will not trade him at all, getting only a compensation pick in next year's draft.

Not if they don't wield a strong bat.  And don't we still have Beckham under control?  I actually don't see that many SS's transitioning to 3rd.  2nd, yes.  1st? No.

I just named four that have logged innings at third my friend. Four that have logged innings in CF.  A few that play all around the diamond.

That aside, when you are in a rebuild you acquire talent no matter where it fits.  Beckham's presence should have zero impact on the acquisition of Lux, even if you throw my overall point about being able to move SS down the defensive spectrum.

We need lefties and they play better due to the short porch. Verdugo will likely develop some power along the way 15-25 an the porch will help. To me Verdugo should be more valuable to the Orioles for this reason. Either guy is a good main piece ...My fingers are crossed that we can snag Verdugo

If we get Diaz instead of Verdugo, have Brady adjust the fences.  😁

Last I checked, Schoop occupies 2nd.  Why are we looking at middle infielders?  Don't we have a catcher who is busting and a hole at 3b with Manny departing?  And didn't the O's demand two starting pitchers when this began?

WIth his size and arm, I'm thinking Schoop could play third by the time those guys get to Baltimore, if Schoop signs with us.

And here comes the rare all star game injury...

Oh, absolutely. 100% getting plunked / tweaked.

Only the Orioles would insist on Manny playing in another game before the deal is done.

So they have no qualms about trading for high-priced international prospects. Tell me again why the O's aren't actively signing more on their own?

They have to be laundered first.

It's all speculation until a trade is announced.  I'm just relieved that the agreed to trade with the Phillies isn't legit.  No reason to agree to anything until you are ready to make a trade.

I agree. I would have been really disappointed if he ended up in Philly...to many friends that are Philly fans, the whole Andy MacPhail situation....and they just won a super bowl...would be just to much.

Fingers crossed for Verdugo, Lux, and May.

Franco isn't to plug a hole.

Franco isn't for the fans.

You get franco because at age 22/23 he looked like possibly the second best young 3B in the game.  (Behind the guy you are trading)

If you can rebuild even half that value in a year and half he becomes a valuable trade commodity.

Sorry but I'm not interested in Franco and his running clock. the Orioles shouldn't be either. His defense is pretty ordinary and he's way under performed at the plate. It doesnt appear that we need to accept him anyway.

Most here that have commented about him feel similarly so you'd be in the minority here. Not necessarily wrong ...But

The point for me is that we are going to have 2-3 down years at minimum. That means selling everything you have at the majors right now of value with possibly the exception of Bundy and the 1st year guys who are making the minimum.

Why pick up a goal who is heading to arbitration and by all standards has under performed so far?

Send him out there in a full suit of plate armor.

If the trade is essentially done, why are we letting him play tonight? We should not take any chance of injury at this point.

A report a few hours ago is that they offered a list that included quite a few names in their top 20 prospects and 2 from their MLB roster for Britton and Machado. I think they've conceded that they aren't fleecing us and finally there is admission that the Manny is a rental thing is bogus as he is a special case. The Orioles are going to be winners in this thing if they continue to play it right. Hopefully the Brewers come back and offer Hiura, Burnes , and another player! The Brewer fan that has been lurking here will have to be escorted to the ER....Just kidding

I was actually hoping the Orioles would just give us Machado and Britton for free, because wishful thinking...or something.
