They waived the white flag, but kept Harper.

I thought the Dodgers were trying to keep their payroll down.  Yeah, they did this to block the teams ahead of them knowing the Nats wouldn't allow the claim.

I think we’ve showcased Gentry enough. He should bring back a solid 24 year old GCL RP.

Yes.  If "ante up"  $500 K of International spending chips.  :deadhorse:  VVM deal already in place! *

In other new Chris Davis has improved his average 20 points. Have to look for the positive right?

Maybe he's primed for a playoff run 😜

5+ ERA. 15+ losses. Poor K numbers. Cobb is far from Archer. Cobb is a salary dump right now.

Cobb has rebounded very nicely. 5+ ERA is from not having any ST and a horrible defense behind him. Several of his 15 losses are due to lack of run support. He is really putting together a nice second half. Keep him and I think we can get a nice piece for him next deadline. His contract is actually not that bad.

Amazingly somehow Davis is second on the team (of current players) in RBI's.  I know RBI's are more indicative of what the player in front of them is doing, but still pretty amazing considering the abysmal season he is having.

The fun thing about Archer and Cobb is that they pitched for the same team at roughly the same time.   With Tampa:

Archer 177 starts, 54-68 record, 1063 innings, 3.69 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 11.6 rWAR.

Cobb 115 starts, 48-35 record, 700 innings, 3.68 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 10.8 rWAR.

Cobb had a rough first 11 starts (7.23 ERA), but has righted the ship since then (3.48 in 13 starts). I don’t think Archer and Cobb are vastly far apart.

Valencia appears to be still unsigned. Gentry might go that same way.

Gentry would fit real nicely with several playoff contenders in September - particularly in the NL.  I think he actually has a little trade value.

Unfortunately his OPS was 46 points lower in August than in July. I think the Orioles will have to accept a B prospect now. :)
