Winner gets to be the opening pitcher for the game.

If Chris were the opener, he would not need to bat.

The fact that the Angelos brothers are using the interview process to find out how today's best teams operate tells me that this organization is as screwed up as ever. Do you think that the owners of the Dodgers or Astros or Red Sox know or understand the intricacies of how their baseball operations are run? No chance. They hire people they trust and leave it to them.

So, why should John and Lou care about these things? One reason and one reason only. So they can meddle more effectively.

Also, this approach has put them way behind. They could have hired a consultant to research the best teams and draft a report about how they operate. The report would likely have cost $50,000-100,000, but that's what responsible businesses do. Had they done that, they could have started interviewing a lot sooner and still been "thorough."

If you added a zero to the end of each of those numbers you’d still be low, but I get your point.

Do you really need to do that?  It is very obvious where the O's are lacking.  Take a look at the Yankees, they have 20 employees in their Analytics Department the Orioles had 3.  They have a deep minor league system which includes a lot of international players, the O's do not.  They have a large scouting staff, the O's do not.

Seems what the Orioles need to do is hire someone who can build an Analytics department and identify relevant information for evaluating players at every level based upon value, develop strategies for in game lineups, matchups, use of players, defense, etc.  The new hire can develop an effective scouting system for in the USA and Internationally and develop a network of International contacts to assist in signing players.  The new hire can develop an excellent player development program including easing the transition of international players to USA culture.  Pretty obvious that the new guy has to get the O's focused on scouting and player development and proper use of analytics.  Let Brady do his thing with S&C and nutrition.
