His option can’t be picked up until this offseason...which it will.
I doubt his option is that high, especially for where he was picked.
Edit: I just saw his option is valued around 21M because he was a pro bowler in 2019.
We got Armstrong, Lakins, Scott, Harvey, Fry, Sulser. Sulser might be on thin ice, but even so, that leaves only three spots. If we use Lopez as swingman, that leaves only two.
We got two rule fives, and I know Mike wants to keep them both, but we also have Tate, Valdez, Lopez, plus, the guys banging on the door. I really would prefer we not sign any aging veteran unless he can really be counted on to not just produce, but to bring back something at the deadline, and that’s unlikely. We just don’t have room.

I do like getting to see good Orioles play baseball, and hope those two play well enough not letting them be Orioles this summer would be...graceless?
I think TL;DR more my problem, and was trying for short there, but talking with a 5-year old half the time I guess messes up the vocabulary too...damn.
His option wasn't picked up yet AFAIK. The option amount is fairly high for QBs, something like 24 million. 2022 would be the option year so you could scrap the option year for some cap savings in 2022 and 2023. 2024 would probably be full price against the cap and 2025/2026 would be a cut/restructure year depending on how long the deal is/how you structure it.
