Starting Lineup mid summer 2022

Recommended Posts

The Andy MacPhail method is outdated.

Grow the bats and a couple of starting pitchers, trade or buy the rest.

By the time they are available most bats aren’t very good.

What do you think?

Projected starting team we can actually rooted for to win in 2022

C - Adley Rutschman - 2019 # 1 pick in draft

1b - Ryan Mountcastle

2b - Adam Hall / Jean Carmona

SS- Cayden Grenier / 2020 # 1 pick in draft (Casey Martin - Univ of Ark SS)

3B - Chance Sisco-  converted C

LF - Yusniel Diaz

CF- Ryan McKenna / 2019 top int’l signing

RF- Austin Hays

DH- Jean Carlos Encarnacion

Sp.

DL Hall

Zac Lowther

Dean Kremer

Keegan Akin

Grayson Rodriquez

Closer   Hunter Harvey

There’s no chance we develop that many players to be starting major leaguers, but its cool of you to put this together.

Didn't we try that for like 14 losing years?

How about "Grow the bats, Buy the arms?" Here's why:

- investment/inventory in growing bats less likely to fizzle from injuries

- buy the arms once they are proven to be resilient

I'm pretty sure Data would support the above bets.

Pretty close to what I propose. Weams has a thread called “They All Break” so, finding ones who can perform is my priority. Injuries for pitchers is the cost of doing business.

Dylan Crews (OF) will be next years #1 MLB pick.

Its pretty clear that the Orioles will probably select either Witt Jr.(SS) or Adley (C) with this years #1 pick

Witt isn’t necessarily 2nd to Rutschmann right now.

I can’t possibly think that far ahead.

That is some wishful thinking! I do think that could be close to the rotation. I am still hopeful for Harvey, too.

Don't forget, we could be getting some useful pieces back for Villar, Bundy, Mancini, and possibly Cobb.

Oh, and Davis will STILL be under contract!

No! Say it ain’t so.

Me neither.    Lots of unexpected things will happen in the next three years.

What makes you so sure Crews goes 1-1 next year?

A 6-0 RH HS outfielder doesn't seem to leap off the page as a surefire 1-1.

I think the Orioles should harvest the arms and procure the bats.

Hard disagree.

Im more into cultivating the arms and entering into a mutually beneficial exchange of consideration to obtain the bats.

It’s all guesswork, but I don’t see Sisco becoming a 3B.

Not sure why people don’t see the value in potentially having a starting-caliber #2 catcher who can also serve as a lefty bench bat/DH.
