Yeah, but they didn't send him down. He got hurt.  Santander came up.  I don't understand why he didn't get the call this time.

Or for that matter, why Ruiz is at AA. What is even the point of Jace Peterson now that Villar wasn't traded?

The fact that Ruiz is at Bowie leads me to believe it is for his benefit. Wife close by? Who knows.

He has to stay down 10 days before he can be back. Needs couple more days

Peterson has had a very good year at Norfolk.   To me, the question is why have him and Stevie Wilkerson both on the 25-man roster.     But with Ruiz sent down Peterson makes some sense.    I don’t really get Rondón.

I don’t think anyone in the front office is down on Stewart.   But he didn’t play that well in his short stint before his injury, and he’s only hitting .220 since his return to Norfolk (albeit with lots of walks and power).    He’ll get another chance eventually.

What do we expect from Stewart ? I honestly don’t know. He doesn’t look like he is fast( although he might be. I don’t know) and his defense seems to be negative, but again I don’t know whether it’s good or bad.

Is he supposed to hit well enough to compensate for bad D, is his D supposed to be at least average, can he run? I agree he should be here, showing wherever he has, but I haven’t any idea what to expect.

If only that type of information was readily available.

Kind of interesting who goes to make room.

The O's need 13 pitchers, so I think that alignment stays in place.

Of course,  Severino and Sisco will stay.  They need 2 catchers.

Davis, Mancini and Villar are probably safe because of  veteranocity.

Martin has to stay as a Rule 5 guy.

Alberto, Peterson, Nunez are out of option and have to go through waivers.

Santander deserves to stay more than Stewart.

Wilkerson has a 810 OPS vs righties

Ruiz was sent down for 16 days and if he is sent down for 4 more he loses his option for next season.

The easy way out is to option Stewart until Sept 1st.  Either that or DFA Peterson.  JMO

I’m sure you used incorrect grammar on purpose...”If only that typo of information were available.”

but thanks!

Actually I really didn’t know about this, thank you for sharing. And we’ll let your grammar slide for now.

How do you not know about Statcast?  You have Tony on ignore?

Shouldn't it be I'll let your grammar slide for now?

Reading the report it says that it’s a stretch for him to be a successful daily player, and if that’s true, it’s kind of Disappointing that he is considered one of our top three outfielders. Thanks again for sharing the information, I will be using this site a great deal.

He has a bad body, so the expectation is that his defense and speed are bad, but the scouting doesn't really bear that out.

You sent me to baseball savant not stat cast.

And Tony’s shared an off a lot of information, but I guess I’ve never seen him share the actual link, or maybe I just didn’t notice,. But I got it now! Thanks again!

    • I would not think so. We got a lot for Givens.
    • 8 games left and he is now at 92 at-bats after getting 3 at-bats in each of the last 3 games (11 plate appearances total). Helps keep the at-bats down when the team can't score any runs. Would need 38 at-bats over the final 8 games to lose rookie/prospect eligibility. Mountcastle has only had 5 at-bats in 3 games thus far this season, so the chances of him getting 5 at-bats in 6 of his final 8 games are pretty much non-existent.
    • As of 9-19 Sisco  0 PB 13 WP -3 dRS -2.7 dWAR  Overall 0.3 fWAR Severino  5 PB 15 WP -1DRS dWAR. 04 Overall .7 fWAR  I included wild pitches Because it can be debatable whether the blame should be on the catcher or the pitcher, but Sisco Is clearly better at stopping pitches. But neither of these guys will make any other team go googly eyed.
    • This is where Sisco is today the 19th. He has improved, in K and BB rats especially, but I don’t think anyone is going to be in a rush to trade anything meaningful for him. His defense remains bad and he offers nothing as a runner.  32.4 K rate .340 BABIP .235 AVG .381 OBP 125 WRC .03 fWAR
    • I’m pretty sure he would be claimed, but that would actually be good for the Orioles. If he does, he gets the benefit of coaching from the new team, and we can watch him develop, or not, on a real life stage. If it is unlikely that he does well Enough to stick, when he returns to us, we will have had the benefit of the empty roster spot, but also the benefit another team coaching, and whatever experience he has on the major league stage, if he gets that far. And when he returns to us, we will have that much more knowledge and can deal with him more effectively. Of course there’s always the risk that he makes it all the way with his new team, and I guess that’s the risk we have to take. After all, TJ McFarland has had a pretty good career throwing in the upper 80s.
    • Severino is the one of those that I can best imagine attaining some actual market value. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2020-positional-power-rankings-catcher/ The team will need to wait out the Realmuto bidding for the good teams that need a catcher.  If we just guess the Phillies retain, the bottom-tier catching situations from this summer on clubs that perhaps mean to contend in 2021 look like: COL - happy to do business with them again DET - Schoop repping the former Oriole brand well WAS - haha.  Imagine the WS tenure helps the incumbents CIN - will try not to have a Tyler Mahle infatuation here, they could maybe use Alberto too.  Nunez as fill-in with Votto salary relief? NYM - ibid Colorado HOU - do Elias Sig still have some nuanced favorites even James Click doesn't have his arms around yet?
