Trying to Salvage a Game (vs. D-RAYS, 4/18)

Recommended Posts

Did you all see the stat on Joey Votto?  He popped out to the first baseman for the first time in his major league career (6,829 at bats).  That was also only the 7th time he has popped up to the infield in his 8-year career.  That is unbelievable.

Can you suddenly start getting allergies after never being bothered by them your whole life, at 50+ years old?

Pollen has never bothered me, when the count gets high and other people are miserable, at worst I'd get a little sniffle.   I usually have the windows open all spring.

But for the past 24 hours, I have been absolutely miserable.   I don't have much experience with allergies, but I'm pretty sure this is what I have.   What's the best thing to get?   Claritin, Zyrtec, something else?

Hoping tomorrow's big rainstorm washes away the pollen like it will tomorrow evening's Oriole game.

I do not heat the raise. I actually kind of like them and would not mind seeing them win the division, but I really hate the decision making that Created the rotation that we now have. It’s embarrassing and it was avoidable.

Huh? I’m sorry but I dont understand what you mean.

Wasn't it twice in the last week?  I think he popped one up to third base recently.

I should have posted pics from my neighborhood in California last summer with three fires in the area.  Visibility on many days was maybe a quarter mile

MLB Network guys were arguing about his HOF credentials.   They all think he WILL get in, but Harold Reynolds, and to some extent Bill RIpken, contended that he really didn't deserve it (yet) because of the lack of high hit & HR totals.   They didn't say he wouldn't make it, but they said it was "only" because of the modern emphasis on OBP and he isn't deserving.   "Fred McGriff must be sitting there with 5xx HRs and saying wait a second here!".    The other guy (forget who) said that Votto clearly deserved it and is one of the best players in the game.

Or maybe he was using voice dictation to input.

Votto will be a tough decision for voters.

The one I'm torn on was Dale Murphy - in his prime, he was one of the most feared hitters in the league (2x MVP).  He just didn't have the gaudy home run numbers (395) and the career BA wasn't too impressive.
