He may still sign for less than slot. Is someone like him going to go back to school? I’m not saying a huge savings here but still.

Very true. Could be a small savings, but I just wouldn’t expect much. Although college players have a new level of leverage this year by being able to return to college without losing eligibility.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Elias is playing this straight up and just took the highest players on their board at #2 and #30. I don't love the picks on paper but I am interested to see how things look a year or two from now.

I don't get why the "experts" like Westburg.  Ok, he's athletic, but... if he can't produce at the college level, why is he gonna produce in MLB?  Seems like a complete waste of the 30th pick to me, and that simply can't happen in the situation the O's are in.  .

He may be someone who the high tech cameras love. Who knows.

The mlb draft show hosts seem to like the shortstop from Arizona State drafted two slots after Westburg.  It will be interesting to see what Elias says about his guy.

At this point I don’t know what to think. Elias is no fool, I know that.

It's easy to fall into the smartest man in the room syndrome.

Not just the ASU Shortstop, but the LSU SS Loftin taken shortly after we took Westburg as well.  Not a fan of the high K profile of Westburg, but the exit velo is good, needs to improve the contact rate.

It’s all I have left at this point.

In last years draft Elias was heavy into college position players and college players overall.  The trend continues.  Everyone waiting for the overslot HS pitcher.  Odds are the next pick is another college guy.

I'm interested to see what Martin signs for....If it is overslot what we did tonight makes sense.  Especially if we hit Kelley overslot at 39.  Was happier where we were 6 hours ago but I don't think tonight was terrible

very unimpressed with the picks by Elias! A high strikeout no walk OF and a light hitting SS!

I think we’d be much better with Martin and Cecconi
