I'm hoping for Jack Kochnaowicz just to hear Gary Thorne say his name.

I've been waiting for this draft day for over a year. We went with the consensus number one, so I'm happy. I haven't been this excited about the Orioles since the 2016 wild card game, almost three years ago.

It does look like that they got the cornerpiece of their rebuild. The media at least is all over this.

Elias said they would go best player available all day today, even if that meant not picking any pitchers, though he does expect to pick some.   https://www.masnsports.com/steve-melewski/2019/06/mike-elias-on-day-one-and-the-os-first-three-draft-picks.html

I assume Elias means best player available that is willing to sign. I cant see anyway possible that we take Allen or Leiter, because they will definitely command overslot money.

Yeah. Leiter has apparently shown no willingness to sign. You do have to wonder if the DBacks take him just in case.

By the way, I watched a lot of the draft show. Just my opinion but I wasn't impressed with Witt's video or his physique.  Abrams looked like a slap hitter.  Vaughn's swing was impressive but he's one dimensional.  I think, far and away, we got the best player.

I think what was shown makes those points. I'm happy with the choice.

Spencer Jones would sure be nice, if we can afford him. Tyler Callihan, Hunter Barco, Bryce Osmond, Evan Fitterer or Will Rigney would all be tougher signs as well. Rigney is interesting to me.

If they're not worried about service commitment, I think it's Noah Song at 3:1.  Otherwise, I like Tyler Callihan.

Most of the prep names that look like amazing value here are simply unsignable at this point.

0%

Hampton

Leiter

Lee

10% but not sure if the O’s could swing it considering Henderson is probably overslot to some degree.

Allan

Jones

Barco

Osmond

I heard that Allan is a Boras client. So, probably not going to be anywhere near his ballpark, no?

You mentioned Dalquist as a pontential signability issue guy before but not here.  Is he more of a 50/50 guy?  Or did you just skip him.

Would Noah Song be a good value pick in the 3rd round? Save money as he is a senior, and his value may be even lower with the 2 years of required military service.  Develop him as a reliever when he begins his career in two years.   This way he could move faster and jump right into the action right around the time we are starting to win again. We can use that saved money try to sign another HS talent
