BR Trade Idea - Frazier for Bundy

Recommended Posts

About zero chance the Yanks would offer that. Yeah Frazier sucks in the field, but he's also 24 years old and putting up an .843 OPS with 4 more years of control. Bundy, on the other hand, put up a 5.17FIP last year and 4.99 this year while being only under contract for 2 more years.

I would rather have Bundy. The Orioles have had a much more difficult time finding starting pitchers that can put up league average numbers pitching in Camden Yards than finding corner outfielders that can put up good offensive numbers.

Frazier is one of the worse defensive outfielder in the league according to statcast information. He's an astounding -10 OAA, and -14 catch % added. Basically he's Mark Trumbo out there by the numbers.

So basically we would need to move him to DH or 1B for value. Would I take him over Nunez at DH? Sure. But I'd rather hope Bundy can get hot and and someone get desperate that we can can someone with a little more rounded game or a pitching prospect with starter's upside.

Either way, would you want Bundy pitching his home games if you had that short porch in RF? I doubt the Yankees would be interested in Bundy.

I am surprised at how many are for it. We’ve already got plenty of young and defensively awful but promising offensively types. Mountcastle, Sisco, Nunez...I could probably include Smith and Stewart in there as well. Why would Frazier be a fit on this team?

Strikes me as a strategically poor trade for both teams.    The O’s have plenty of corner OF depth and the Yankees don’t really need a back of the rotation starter.

TBH I hadn't recalled Frazier being a poor fielder, so going by memory comes back to bite me in the ass... again. LOL! I'd prefer we dealt Bundy for another player, rather than Frazier. Yet, if Frazier was the best we could do at this time, it'd be a tough call to make.

Maybe they can do whatever they did with Cortez and have Bundy suddenly gain 1.8 MPH on his fastball?

If you haven’t noticed, Bundy seems to be gaining some velocity on his fastball without their help.

1st 5 starts: 90.8 ave.

2nd 5 starts: 90.9 ave.

3rd 5 starts: 91.6 ave.

Last start was 92.0, highest of the year.

I think Bundy is a guy who might be viewed in a little different light if he were somewhere like an NL West pitcher's park.  It's awfully hard to find consistent success in a bandbox home park, juiced balls, with little defensive support, and constantly facing the Yanks and Sox.

The Orioles need Bundy more than they need Fraizer so no. I don't think Fraizer's ceiling is that high and what you see is what you get.

This shouldn't have anything to do with it, but I can't stand his face either. Just looking at him annoys me like Paul O'Neill did back in the day.

Impact of Frazier’s bat > impact of Frazier’s glove....

Yes I would make the trade, but if I’m moving Bundy I’m probably going to target one of the other more glaring weaknesses of the talent pipeline.

I would trade Bundy but not for a defensively challenged Frazier.   I think Elias will find someone that fits the O's needs better in return for Bundy if he trades him.   He does not have to be traded at the deadline this year.

Well they need to trade Bundy to someone for something because there is no way they should offer him arbitration next year.

I think the O's can absolutely offer Bundy arbitration.   And still trade him this off season if they find the right deal.

    • Bleier trade continues to bite the O's last night.  Fry  could not find the plate especially against right-handed batters. Needing to face three batter in not Fry's game.    It didn't affect the outcome because the O's didin't  hit.  However, Fry does not look up to being the 2nd lefties in the pen  which shows how much the O's miss Bleier.  Fry would be a candidate to be sent down but there is no lefty to replace him so he will probably stay in the majors.
    • SummerSlam ‘92 is on FS1.  Quarantine + Nostalgia = Mullet for backwardsk ?
    • I missed another game. My sleep schedule sleep patterns are SOOOOOOOO screwed up... I laid down for a quick nap before the game about 4:30. When I woke up at MIDNIGHT I had missed the entire thing. Turned on the TV to watch the 11:30 replay and THANK GOD the Gnats are back playing! They're the replay tonight... fml     So.... I'm not going to read the thread or the board. Or Roch. It's 1:30 am. I'm having my "morning" glass of coffee (yes BIG TALL GLASS) and I'm going to watch the 9 am MASN replay "live". So I have THAT going for me. 🙃 GO O'S!!!!

    • Now that does make sense: greater risk, greater reward. So do healthy pitchers make more than healthy batters? Serious question.
    • On his pro-rated salary, Cobb would earn @ $4.5MM the rest of this season. That would be nothing for a contending team to take on if they were sold on him putting them over the top. But I can't imagine being so desperate on August 4, 10 games into a 60 game season if I were a decision maker to take on the entirety of his contract.  If a team really wants to gamble a little bit of cash on Cobb to win this year's WS, they may be wrangled into taking half the burden on the 2021 salary, while the Orioles pay half of this season's $4.5MM remaining. This is starting to sound too good to be true!
