Aaron Brooks selected by O's off the waiver wire

I’m curious about the new guy’s upside? He hasn’t any options, so he clogs the roster. What good things does he have?

We didn’t pick him up on a whim, (hopefully that reason walked out the door with last fall’s departures.) So what are his advantages?

He's someone else.

He's shown a tendency to not walk many hitters. Career 2.7 BB9. My guess is he'll be in the rotation. .

I think the Orioles are looking for Bundy/Cashner replacements right now.

Arietta needs surgery, and is likely done for the year, which makes Philly a candidate for either guy

This meant for the trade deadline thread? I would agree... cashner’s market just got a lot hotter.

Yeah, I should’ve put it in a different comment area. I am extremely gratified by what Mike is doing now. He is anticipating movies and preparing for those moves.

What’s his spin rate?  Can we sprinkle analytics on him and make him strictly FB/CB?

IMO, we just really need to cover innings. Elias is trying. He basically went out and got two of the “best” pitchers in the international league. Brooks has had success in the PCL.

I mean I like Elias and all, but picking up guys from the waiver wire isn’t exactly high level chess. He’s been doing this all season and will continue to do it if there’s a chance of upgrading the pitching staff regardless of pending trades.

Brooks is starting game 1 today. He’s out options. It’s a double header and then pen was taxed last night, Brooks might be DFAd before game 2.

While that would be hilarious, I’d also like to see this team stumble onto at least one SP with all the guys we’ve ran out there. Chris Waters?

Despite a poor major league record, he's been traded for pretty good players for some reason. Must have had potential!

Decent K/BB numbers. Just gives up a lot of HR, every year.

75% of the outs that Brooks recorded [6 out of 8] came via the Groundout and the Strikeout.

The one base-runner that he ceded via a Hit Batsman was erased on a double play, hence he faced the minimum number of batters (8) on the day.

Brooks could make Bundy's start on Wednesday against the Nationals.
