...for literally everyone else.... Brad Brach DFA by Cubs. Thoughts? 🧐

I wouldn't mind seeing him back.  He might not know too many players on the team though.

Who knows if he'll make it past Detroit.  After all, they want to lock down the #1 pick.

He has a 5 million dollar option next year with a 100,000 dollar buyout for 2020, so they could claim him now and treat the final two months as a tryout for next season, where he could be a possible trade chip.

Ultimately I don't see them paying that much for a reliever though

My guess is nobody claims him and he passes through waivers.  Salary is too high considering his struggles.  Chances are he would refuse an outright assignment to the minors and will become a free agent.

Once he's released by the Cubs, I could see him signing a minor-league contract with a contender hoping to get him back to form and bring him up in September. He pitched well with the Braves last year.

Bingo. I wouldn’t mind bringing Brach back and giving him a defined role as 7th-8th inning guy. Only Armstrong and Fry have made the most of opportunities this year.

Brach is 33 years old and has no ties to Elias/Hyde.   I don't see him being an Oriole again.

Maybe a minor league coach a few years down the road if he decides to walk that path.  As a player?  Agreed, not in a million years.
