Who is on the O's roster after Sept 2nd?

Well I have a little faith and Mountcastle’s ability to be anything on defense, But I was really referring to Sisco and his 40+% K rate and exhilarating defense. But I’d be happy to bring him up and give him a chance. Bring up everybody give everybody a chance. You Gotta make it or break it at the MLB level, so why not do it now.

I'm not being a smart ass when I ask this. Obviously you have a limited posting account. Are you really an Oriole fan or a baseball who enjoys talking randomly on teams blog sites? I haven't seen many post that said anything positive about any of the players on the team or in the system....so I'm just asking.

Personally, I don't expect Mountcastle to be very good. But, I think the time is near.

Hunter Harvey is already on the 40 man and has been pitching out of the bullpen for Norfolk. Seems like he would be on track to get a cup of coffee. Can't be worse than the batting practice guys we have going right now.

It would be a bit easier if I could edit my comments to make them more clear. I meant to say “I have little faith in Mountcastle’s ability to be anything on defense” but everything should have been clear.

Using the word “exhilarating” regarding Sisco’s D is called “sarcasm.” His D is bad and the exhilarating part is waiting for what comes next. But he should be here for a long look, so the Powers can decide what to do in future.

Saying we should bring Mountcastle up and give him a chance was neither sarcasm nor hyperbole(look it up) I  meant it. Each guy like Stewart or Mountcastle should be brought up and given a long chance to succeed or fail at the highest level. Even if his D is bad so what? Stick him at his best position and let him play. See what he can do. Maybe his D isn’t that bad.

Im curious at your suggestion. I don’t believe in being rude even in a fairly anonymous place like this but your comment had neither justification nor merit, and demonstrated poor comprehension.

I don’t like chatting with people who aren’t worth it. Mark Twain’s pig quip was correct. So we’re done.

The question on Harvey is how much do the O's want him to pitch this season?   He pitched 87.2 innings as a starter in 2014.   However since his TJ surgery he has not pitched more than 32 innings in the 2018 season.   He has pitched 71.2 inning so far this season.  They might  just want to shut him down for the season after Sept 2nd rather than promoting him.

Really Phillip, I wasn't trying to rude and started by saying that I wasn't trying to be a smart ass. I was asking  if you are an Orioles fan or just a baseball fan. I've seen you criticize a number of the Orioles players/prospects lately. That would include your assessment of Villar if I'm not confusing you with someone else.

If it sounded like an attack it wasn't meant to be. Also, my question did have merit based off of my observations of your previous post.

If you don't wish to answer that's fine by me. But no sense making a mountain out of a molehill.

Cheers

I don't think he was making a mountain out of a molehill at all. You were obnoxious and snobbish in your response, and frankly so much so that I downvoted your comment.  (and I was just a bystander)

And your response to that downvote, was to go digging through the archives and find a completely innocuous post of mine from the past to downvote in retaliation. Beyond petty if you ask me, but no skin off my nose.

It really is kind of sad, because this is the kind of behavior that discourages new posters, and makes it clear to others that you view this place as your personal playground... and that your post count makes you special. Kinda toxic really.

So ...I took some time to look at your profile and it seems that you hand out negative rep more than you post. Perhaps you could add something of value to the board by actually posting.

4 out of your last 12 activities since July 30th and your last 3 activities were handing out negative rep without offering anything to the board.

I've been a member here since 2014.

In my total time here, I have downvoted 3 total posts.

I have voted positively on far more posts than I have voted negatively on. (and have had a fair number of my own posts upvoted as well)

So either you have a problem with math, or you are attempting to be dishonest, and hoping I won't call you on it. But that's neither here nor there. I downvoted YOUR post because you chose to be obnoxious to another poster whose status you deemed lower than yours.

You didn't criticize his position. You questioned his motives for being here, and you suggested that he did not belong here. You are attempting to do exactly that with me now. And dishonestly so.

Congratulations. You've managed to drive another potential participant from the board for no reason at all.

Best wishes to you, in spite of yourself.

So you've been a member since 2014 (5ish years), you have 80 posts (average a little over one post per month), and you've handed out 3 negative reps since July 20th. I find extremely hard to believe that you've ignored the feature before July 20th. The stripes typically don't change. I don't need to be dishonest on this board and your just trolling trying the get an overreaction.

Plus calling me obnoxious for a second time, which is clearly against board rules.  And dishonest twice in this post also clearly against the rules.

Also .... I asked an honest question because I was curious. We have posters that post here that are fans of other teams. @Tryptaminecomes to mind. Im fairly certain @davearmis a Cubs fan. I did not in any way insinuate that he didn't belong here. So in addition to all your accusations just isn't true.

Its not my place to put a value on you 1.1 post per month for five years. It's also not my place to say good riddance to you.

Post if you want, Don't if you decide that's best for you. But you essentially picked a fight here. One that I chose not to back from. I have responded to you with respect that in my opinion really isn't deserved.

Johnny

This precisely illustrates my point.  You seem to measure the "worthiness" of other participants, rather than responding to the posts that they make.

I did nothing more than offer a downvote for what I considered to be an unnecessarily obnoxious response to a poster who did nothing but offer an opinion regarding the Orioles. In response to my downvote, you sifted through the archives to find an utterly unrelated (and quite positive) post of mine to downvote in retribution.

You've gone on to employ the same bullying tactics with me, that you employed earlier..   that's what earned you that downvote. You can ignore this truth if you wish, but you know yourself that it is true.

I very much enjoy the contributions of the knowledgeable people here. The vast majority behave decently to all, and behave in ways that encourage participation and a sense of community. You seem to be working at cross purposes to that goal.

I apologize to the board for derailing the thread, and will return to lurking.

I'd ask that everyone chill a bit and let Brandon Hyde and Chris Davis do the boxing.

I'm thinking Hyder has some better footwork. And stamina.

I think the O's could solve some problems but promoting Mason Williams and playing him in center.   Tayler Scott could be DFA'd.  He would probably  make it  through waivers.

For the love of god, promote Mason WIlliams. If we can give a 40-man spot to guys like Tayler Scott and Keon Broxton and Jace Peterson, there's no reason to not try Williams, if only to have some semblance of order in the outfield. I know he's not a "true" CF like Broxton, but neither are Wilkerson or Santander.

    • @#!% %[email protected]#! %@!$ &%[email protected] In my sim, Hunter Harvey is already hurt.  Thankfully it's not the arm, it's a leg injury.  But he's out for 5 weeks. So I scoured my minors, Marcos Diplan is actually performing well.  So I bring him up.  And what does he do?  First appearance, he drills Tim Anderson, touches off a brawl and gets SUSPENDED FOR NINE GAMES.  Apparently the league felt that Diplan was at fault because Anderson only got 4 games.   At one point I was 5-5 and thinking...hey, this team might not be that bad.  Now I'm 10-24 and wondering how my staff will make it through the season. In other words, it's feeling like the real thing.
    • I for one won't like it.  George Orwell certainly was a prophet, wasn't he?
    • Gregg Olson was a career relief pitcher (never started a game) who was known for his astonishing curveball.  Sometimes he played for the Baltimore Orioles but also sometimes he did not. On April 20th, 1998, at age 31, he was pitching for the Arizona Diamondbacks.  He hadn't taken a live Major League at-bat since 1994.  In the bottom of the 7th, he crushed a 3-2 pitch from Óscar Henriquez into the left-field bleachers, scoring Devon White. What could Gregg have been thinking as he trudged into the batter's box?  Was he thinking, here's a spot for a home run?  I'm looking fastball on the full count?  Here's where I get 2 of my 2 career RBIs?  Was he just saying, aw (freaking heck, jeez Louise), look at all this (stuff) my job is making me do?  And then he launches one.  Sends the big leathery boy into the night.  What was he looking for, trying to do?  Was he going for the big fly, or just trying to put it in play?  How do you hit a 4-bagger if you're going for contact?  Gregg must've been going for it.  He came, he saw, absolutely conquered. What was his reaction?  Diamondbacks crushed the game, his donger was just a grave dance on a defeated opponent, but holy heck.  A live, major league home run you were never supposed to hit.  You'd be psyched for a year.  You'd be giving your significant other the extra spicy treatment for the next decade.  I tell you friends, I'd feel like a god forever.  Here I am, trying to do one job in professional baseball, getting sucked into another, and straight crushing it.  Metaphorically and literally hitting the jackpot.  I'd tell that story to anyone I ever met forever.  Yeah I pitched professional baseball, but let me tell you about the time they made me hit.  Oh, what do you do, sell insurance?  Shut up nerd, I destroyed a baseball on live television. I don't even CARE about opposing pitcher Óscar Henriquez.  I don't even know who the guy is.  Was he a fan-of-the-month they let pitch, and that's why I hit a dinglerooski off him in a 15-4 game?  Go ahead and audit my home run, tell me I'm not legit.  I'm in Baseball-Reference, permanently.  People who do not like it can call the police. What does Gregg Olson do now?  Does he ever think about that home run?  Because I do and it inspires me when I need it to.
    • Are you saying his comeback attempt soured voters?
    • Much like the House in Vegas, the insurance company always wins in the end.
    • I pooped myself that day... In my defense, I was 9 days old!
    • Haha... but the frustration is therapeutic cause it's baseball!
