I hate the Yankees

I find Girardi annoying, but I think he was a good manager.    I think Boone has done a good job as well.    Those poor Yankee fans will have to live with 7 playoff appearances, 3 division titles and 4 ALCS appearances over the last decade.     And 27 straight winning seasons.

They will settle for no less than Rendon, Cole and Strasburg out of Cashman. Or maybe a trade for Lindor.

It would be cheaper and possibly more efficient to just buy the Rays.....

Are you saying that there have been Yankee teams in the last 25 years with middling talent, despite mostly the highest payroll in baseball?

Haha, well, yes--

Just because you pay them,

Doesn't mean you play them!

(e.g., Ellsbury, A-Rod, Teixeira)

During the 2014 off-season, I struck up a baseball conversation with a yankees fan. He told me I was lucky to be a O's fan as the yankees weren't committed to winning as they didn't top the M's deal to bring back Cano. I said what about the signings of Masahiro Tanaka, Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann, Carlos Beltran and Matt Thornton. He looked at me confused and said, yeah those are good but it's not Cano.

One does not have a 'conversation' with a skankee fan.  One has an argument.

Something similar happened to me and another O's fan visiting from Vegas at the first 2012 playoff game at Yankee Stadium (the one in which Flaherty and Manny hit homers, Adam misplayed Jeter's fly into a RBI-triple, and Ibanez hit the game-tying and -winning homers in the 9th and 12th innings off of Jim Johnson and Matusz after Miguel Gonzalez had pitched his typically Yankee-killer gem).

Beer wasn't thrown on us (we were in the bleachers and those fans wd never waste their Bud Light mead)--just the empty blue plastic bottles. We needed a two-officer escort from the water fountain all the way down the ramps. They also mocked my race. The other fan was a young white man and had flown in to bet on the game, and lost. There was a nice Canadian woman behind us who said she was rooting for the Y's, but hated Yankee fans.... I have some some cool photos.

Nonetheless, I loved that season and series.

I agree. But it's been interesting to meet Y fans who found him so annoying that they're glad to be rid of him. They usually cite the fact that he made so many pitching changes and slowed the game down so much it became boring to them.

Uhhh okay so reminding a guy he's married to one of the most famous and desirable women on the planet is suppose to make him feel bad? On top of beating their team to go to the World Series? Yep Wank fans are as dumb as they are annoying.

Boone is the only man to hit a walk off HR to send his team to the WS as a player and then lose on one as a manager.    I wonder if that walk off is part of the reason why the Yankees hired him.  It would not surprise me if he fails as manager.  Hiring previous players  as manager generally does not work out all that well.

True the Yankees signed some busts. But overall their huge payroll guarantees them an advantage in team talent, year after year.  They haven't had a losing season since when the 1980's, and I don't think they will ever have another one (unless MLB puts on a salary cap).

Girardi failed to get the most of the talent he had, especially in the post season. That's why the Yankees eventually gave up on him and let him go.  I don't think Girardi would have been successful with the Orioles either.  He's a mediocre manager and he is very annoying, with his intensity and demeanor.

To give just one example, the 2014-2015 teams were not much on paper. Girardi led both to second-place finishes and post-season appearances. The rosters for both teams were so weak that no pundits predicted they could go all the way. That wasn't Girardi's fault.

Yeah I was just looking at the 2014 2015 Yankees and their roster was not as good as I recalled. They didn't make the playoffs in 2014 but in 2015 Texira and A-Rod both had one last good year with 30+ HR and they made the playoffs.

I read Cashman felt Girardi didn't connect with the players well and that was why he was given his walking papers.  However I think there were a couple of other factors that Cashman didn't mention. Girardi didn't challenge a key call in the playoffs which ended up costing the Yankees the game.

Also right before Girardi was terminated he kept talking about how he would have to talk with his family before deciding whether to return  to the Yankees with a new contract. .  This is the arrogance I mentioned, that made it sound like Girardi thought he had the Yankees managing job sewed up as long as he wanted it and he might just walk away from it.

Cashman and Steinbrenner probably didn't like the arrogance and public display of entitlement that Girardi put forth with the "talking it over with my family" statements, and that was likely a factor in the end of Girardi's managerial career with the Yankees.
