28 year old  right-handed starter who was drafted by Houston on the 3rd round in 2012.   Elias first draft there.  Has not been given much of a chance in the majors. 13.1 inning total.

31-14,   3.67 ERA  64 S,  365.1 IP,  1.259 WHIP at AAA in the PCL.

Tom John surgery in 2017.  Had a 2nd elbow surgery in 2018.  He is coming back in 2019:

4-0     3.83 ERA  49.1 IP,  35 K, 1.338 WHIP

Has options left for this year plus one more season.

If he is not traded and  the Tigers don't take him I think Elias might.

3.67 ERA is respectable for the PCL....but the near 1.3 WHIP leaves a lot to ge desired.

He is building his arm strength back from two arm surgeries.   Maybe his control will get better over the next 6 months.  He has options.

The average WHIP in the PCL is 1.53.    In the 3 prior years, between 1.41 and 1.44.    In that light, Rodgers’ 1.26 isn’t too bad.   I’m not saying the guy is any great shakes.   But I’ve seen worse.

Rodgers has been released.    Sounds like the Astros are trying to find a way to keep him in their organization.   Had they put him on waivers someone would have claimed him and he would have been lost to the Astros.

Extremely well. He's one of the best pitchers in the league.

Good for him. I was always a fan.

Oh, we’ve all seen worse on this team. Seems like he’s worth a shot.

At this point I'm not sure many are worth a shot if we have to put them on the 40man. Is there enough time to evaluate them before we have to add all the new people and start cutting?  Of course, if he was released, we don't have to put him on the 40 man do we--unless we want to use him in Baltimore.

They pay him a million to play there

Unless he he hates it, he’s in the right place.

Houston?

Rodgers will now have the opportunity to explore interest from new clubs, though Houston could very well have interest in re-signing him to a minor league deal as a depth piece — particularly with several members of the current big pitching staff ticketed for free agency this winter.
