Austin Hays called up

Recommended Posts

Nice. It is weird with the AFL starting so early this year. I understand it from the perspective of not wanting to shut down pitchers for six weeks and then have them ramp back up again, but it is weird to have AFL baseball while the MLB season is still going on.

This makes some sense I guess.

Makes sense but it feels like they are making it up as they go along.

Oh well, the important thing is that Hays gets to accrue some service time!

Not really.   Hays already was on the 40 man roster.

It still matters, if the Orioles were told he could report in October instead of now.

Of course, now he has to get playing time in Baltimore.

Apparently they got a memo from the league a couple days ago that led to the decision. The getting the most total ABs possible reasoning Elias mentioned makes sense.

Shouldn't be hard, he doesn't have future building blocks like Trumbo and Davis in front of him.

I meant MLB not the O's.  Move makes sense for the O's.

Hopefully it will be Hays or Mason Williams in center every game for the rest of the season and we don't see Santander or Wilkerson there again.

Williams in CF and Hays and Santander at the corners is at least an interesting OF to watch for the last 3 weeks.

Davis will get no playing time.
