Camden Yards to Bus Station

Recommended Posts

Is it safe to walk from Oriole Park to bus station at 2110 Haines Street after a night game? If not, is there taxi service available at the stadium? I'd hate to use a taxi, Uber, Lyft - it seems like it's a short one mile walk. Would appreciate some advice. Thank you.

OPACY is safe at night before, during and after games.

There are extra police pressence to ensure this.

Of course, there is no guarantee in life.

Same thing applies, to any street you walk at night.

You keep your phone in your pocket.

You keep the ear buds out of your ears.

You try and walk with others, and not lone wolf it.

And like driving, you scan the sidewalk around you, and not walk, like you have blinders on and only see 1 foot in front of you.

You are walking down Russell St  passed the football stadium and passed the casino.     Its not terrible there.  I probably would not walk it alone.   If I had two or more other guys with me I would probably be alright to do it.

if you feel a little unsafe then take Uber or Lyft. i know Uber has a designated spot outside the stadium. Not sure how much of a surge charge you would have to pay But I  guess maybe $10.00 if you get a surge charge, maybe $7.50 or so if you don't.

.Hope they have not moved the location but I know it is outside the stadium.

No one has been murdered in that area since 2015.  So 4 years since the last killing.

What is “that area?”    And what were the circumstances?

I’ve walked from Camden Yards to the lot at Penn and Pratt Streets many times after games and never felt the slightest bit unsafe, because there were plenty of other people out on the streets then.   Not sure I’d want to make that same walk at 2 a.m. or in the middle of the offseason when fewer people are around.    (And I’m not saying I wouldn’t, just that the calculus would be different.)  I don’t know if there are issues with that route to the bus station after games.

Thursday for anyone going to the game could be messy. President coming to Baltimore and some Natural Food conference and show at the Convention Center. Supposedly 20,000 attendees. They are not sure exactly when the President is coming but some streets may be blocked off.It is on the other side of the harbor but streets will be closed or blocked. Also some protests expected.

Not safe to walk anywhere in Baltimore after dark... people can flame out but that is my opinion and almost everyone I know.

Yep, the OPACY parking lot is pretty much the same as a slum in Lagos or Venezuela.  It's a well known fact that over 30,000 fans try to go to an average game, but most of them are kidnapped by Boko Haram.

Wow, that’s an ugly story.   Not really clear if she was murdered at the incinerator facility or killed somewhere else, dumped in the trash and then discovered at the facility.    https://www.google.com/amp/www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-county/dundalk/bs-md-co-womans-body-found-20150421-story,amp.html

Someone was killed on Russell St in 2008 by the Football Stadium. No details.  A lot of people killed on Hamburg St on the other side of Cal Ripken Way over the years.

There are crimes in big cities and rural america every day, sadly.

This is not close to OPACY or was a baseball game remotely the cause of her demise.

2008., and that was 11 years ago.

People have been shot in Walmarts around the USA.

Do you still shop at a Walmart?

    • It amazes me that people that were so angry when I suggested that you shouldn't feed your kids hot dogs and sodas are now so worried about ccvid. Heart Disease deaths in this country are 650k a year. Strokes kill 140k a year in the US and Diabetes 85k. And 620k from Diabetes.     The same thing that makes you at risk from dying from covid is the same thing that puts you at risk from dying from Heart Disease, Diabetes and stroke.  Yet I have yet to hear anyone else say they have given up processed food, meats, and exercising and eating more fruits and vegetables more since Covid started.
    • I'm sure they're stretching out to the point that first start might be 5 or 75 pitches, then 6 or 90, then opened up.
    • There are 2 different discussions here. First of all, I’m good with selling off pieces and going cheaper and younger for now..of course, they did it in a half assed way and other guys should be gone. Secondly, this rebuild started with DD still here.  The Gausman deal was strictly about saving money.  If they cared about the best rebuild possible, you ignore the pennies and get the best players. Also, we saw the deal between the Angels and the Giants and how the Giants essentially bought a good prospect for taking on Cozart’s deal.  That was right after the Bundy deal and was the Os needed a SS at the time.  You then heard Elias basically say that type of deal wouldn’t be signed off on by the owners.  That’s a huge problem to me. The Orioles are spending about 100M less on payroll than they did 3-4 years ago.  They have flexibility to take advantage of teams that could try to dump contracts and attach good young players to it.(see David Price as an example) They can take advantage and sign a FA who maybe has slipped through the cracks.     There are things they are doing that are encouraging but I see no reason to have total faith in them and give them the benefit of the doubt.  Elias will have to be really good for this to work and if he is just above average, the team probably will struggle to truly contend unless things break right for them like they did from 2012-2016.
    • Servideo is in Baltimore today so expect his signing to be imminent.
    • https://nccueaglepride.com/sports/baseball/roster/shane-davis/6327#:~:text=Tossed 191 strikeouts over 135.0,a 3.68 ERA in 2018. Works 88-90 but with high spin rate and can touch 92-93 on occasion. Reportedly uses a decent curveball and change and shows a slider at times.
    • 100% impossible to know that at this stage. The fact they hired Elias and Co. and started an Analytics Dept and an International Scouting dept alone means they get it.  It's a PROPER rebuild. Not the half-assed approach we've been treated to at various times over the last 20 years or so.
