Camden Yards to Bus Station

Yep, the OPACY parking lot is pretty much the same as a slum in Lagos or Venezuela.  It's a well known fact that over 30,000 fans try to go to an average game, but most of them are kidnapped by Boko Haram.

Yup, how dare they build OPACY at such a unsafe location. :(

2008., and that was 11 years ago.

People have been shot in Walmarts around the USA.

Do you still shop at a Walmart?

I do not shop at Walmart.

Is it safe to walk from Oriole Park to bus station at 2110 Haines Street after a night game? If not, is there taxi service available at the stadium? I'd hate to use a taxi, Uber, Lyft - it seems like it's a short one mile walk. Would appreciate some advice. Thank you.

I went to several games a few years ago where I parked at the casino, did some gambling, and then walked up to the stadium.   And back after the game.

The bus station is just south of the casnio.

Walking back after the game...going through the O's parking lots is completely safe.   Walking along the west side of the Ravens stadium as well.   Then through the parking lots in the southwest corner of the Ravens stadium.

At that point you cross Ostend Street and take Werner Street down to the casino.   That was a bit deserted so I felt a bit nervous about walking that short two blocks.   But once you are at the casino parking garage you are fine (across from The Game sports bar).    Go right between the casino and it's parking garage, and there you are pretty much at the bus station.

So basically it is that short (< 2 block) walk down Werner Street between the last Ravens Stadium lot and the casino where it is a bit dark and deserted and you might "feel" a bit nervous.   I did it several times and never encountered any issues or even any actual people that made me feel nervous.   Just the fact that it was somewhat deserted and devoid of pedestrian and auto traffic.

Now if you got on Russell Street before it gets elevated and took that all the way, even that deserted feeling would go away.   You'd be walking along the side of a busy street with plenty of lights and traffic.   My question is, is there a sidewalk along the elevated part of Russell Street between the Casino and the Ravens' Stadium that would allow you to walk it?   I'm not sure.   I'm sure I've driven over it but never looked for a sidewalk.   I picture a jersey barrier at the side of the elevated part, don't know if there's a sidewalk or not.

Thanks for the info. I've always driven to Hunt Valley and used light rail from there. My night driving lately has been limited so bus service come next season seemed like a good option. I'll probably try the bus and just use a taxi, uber, or lyft to and from the bus station until I feel more comfortable walking. Thanks again to everyone - sincerely appreciated.

I’m not sure if there’s a sidewalk on the Russell St overpass...otherwise walking straight down Russell from Camden and turning on Haines isn’t bad at all. Well travelled and well lit.

Game Bar has a shuttle to the Oriole gamee back and forth for $20.00.Includes two hour open bar and one free drink on way home after the game. Not sure what they will do next year. You are taking Greyhound?

I’m virtually positive there is not. I think you can walk part of the way along the overpass, but then you have to take a series of stairs down to ground level, which I suspect is not well-trafficked at night after a game.

Caveat is that I’ve done that walk like twice, a long time ago, and fairly, frankly, inebriated, so I don’t remember a lot of the specifics.

I spent a miserably restless night in that Greyhound station back in 2012 after one of the ALDS games. Lot of interesting characters come and go in there.

Also once they finish the new reopening of Hammerjacks in 2020 on Russell Street ,they have been talking about this for years but supposedly next year and the new Top Golf site also opening in 2020,should be more people on those blocks you are walking.

I think that was at the old Greyhound station at Howard and Fayette. They moved to Haines in 2016 with a federal grant to a former sex toy mail catalog shop.Much nicer and cleaner building.

So it might not have been the same building, unclear on that but more or less the same location.

You are right. Got my dates mixed up ,it was late. But that area around the casino is supposed to be  an Entertainment District. Caesars Entertainment bought up many of the old parcels of land. They did get TopGolf to build there and open in 2020. I know they had a deal with Paramount to build a club near M&T  Bank Stadium but I don't think it is going to happen with Hammerjacks only a few blocks away.  Probably don't think Baltimore can support two big clubs a few blocks away. Probably just build a new hotel with a comedy club or something like it. Plus they have that new Checkerspot  Brewing Co that just opened. Seem to have many breweries around Baltimore now. Plus many buildings being fixed up and apartments going up.

Someone was killed on Russell St in 2008 by the Football Stadium. No details.  A lot of people killed on Hamburg St on the other side of Cal Ripken Way over the years.

Crime states around the stadium and other parts of mostly South Baltimore last week.

That was for one week and there were actual crimes in the stadium area.  Looks like right in front of Camden Yards and one on Russell Street on the OP planned path.  Both Larceny.   I think these were car break-ins.  I don't think too many people live on that route or walk on that route.

I wouldn't walk that way by myself at night.   When I walked from the Stadium to Federal Hill I used Light Street and wouldn't cut across on Hamburg after the game.   After a Ravens game I would just do Hamburg as there are so many people.

Many years ago my car broke down at night on I-95 and I coasted off of the Russell St Exit.  An off duty MTA Bus was behind me and stopped and drove me up to Pratt St which I really appreciated.  When I got back to the car the next day it was broken into and looked like someone slept in it.
