Ruiz took too long to get the throw to 1B... inning should have been over. Of course if Scott catches the throw to 1B earlier, the inning would have ended.  Regardless, poor defense bites us again.

The toss by Alberto wasn't that great either and Smith was rounding third before Ruiz even threw over to first.

No awareness.

Well that finishes my in-person season.  The O's were 6-5 in games I attended.  5-5 at Oriole Park and 1-0 at Nat's Park.  At least they had a winning record.

Yeah we never saw a replay here so I only saw it live at full speed.  But I was wondering if Ruiz could (or should) have gone home with it.

That would take a Manny-to-Hardy level of awareness to make that split second decision, though.

"Live speed," I'm sure it would of been tough to notice. Couch review is 100%.

On the replay, Smith was rounding third pretty much infront of Ruiz, but I doubt he was paying attention and was zoned in on Trey at first.

How many leads has Givens blown this year by giving up home runs with 2 outs and/or 2 strikes?

Yeah my intuition is that he's approaching team-record level of game-tying or -losing gopherballs.

Japan is phemnomenal. Make sure you visit a 7-11 while you are there, it's way better than 7-11 in the US.

Things you can do at a 7/11 in Japan that you can't in the US (asterisks indicate you can also do it at a 7/11 in S. Korea):

Use a public bathroom (in all except the ones in the most youth-culture-mobbed neighborhoods)

Sit down and eat a full, healthy meal albeit microwaved*

Stand around leafing through porn mags (I didn't do it, but saw others in that section--apparently this may soon be outlawed)

Get international cash advances at an ATM

Scan and photocopy (in most of the stores)

Get fresh-ground individual servings of coffee*

Lawson's is a competing chain that is almost as comprehensive.

    • https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ravens-expected-to-franchise-tag-on-impending-2020-free-agent-pass-rusher-matthew-judon/   It is looking more and more likely that the Ravens are going to go this route.  What could we get back?   His tagged salary is estimated at $16.3M.  The article above seems to suggest that 1 for 1 he would be worth around a 2nd rounder......based on a Dee Ford trade.
    • I just "binge-read" this thread and have to agree with @Tony-OH in that it is a matter of personal preference. I am old enough to go back to Chuck Thompson and Bill O'Donnell and their radio/TV (however limited it was back then) work.  I remember Brooks and Tom Marr and Jon Miller.  I do hear Jon on Sirius and miss his calling of the hames.  I remember the HTS days as well. Sadly, we can't go back.  These moves prove that the team is now listening to the fans (the survey) and are acting on it.  What is evident is that we are all passionate about the Orioles.  Give the newbies a chance, who knows we may like them.  As one who follows the O's minors I know we have some great voices on the farm and it is so good to see Geoff Arnold get the promotion; hopefully Adam Pohl is next. Everyone will find a happy medium to consume the games either on radio or TV...just be happy that baseball is back and continue the wonderful discussions here at Os Hangout.
    • Good for him.  Things looked real bad early on in 2019 but improved for sure when we turned over a lot of personnel. I'm not unhappy with this news, but I would prefer a headline saying we are making Greg Roman the highest paid OC for many years.
    • The powers that be may have watched Mz. Gray in The Enforcer.
    • At each opportunity in to gather evidence, I’m seeing good defensive ability and execution.  I don’t think that defense is elite but not something that works against him at all.  Throwing, catching, positioning and footwork is very clean from the instances I saw.   We know he can field his spot and I’m glad we’re watching with a close eye.  Let’s see him dictate some more plate appearances and end up on base or continuing rallies at the plate.
    • The umpire criticism was especially ANNOYING last season.
