Who would you not trade?

You keep guys whose value is not what you expect it should be. Givens is that guy, IMO.

How much FV do you think Givens has?

Is it worth paying his arbitration number to find out?

Fair question. I *think* the answer is yes, but wouldn't fight you if you told me it's no. He's a bird in the hand asset, even if he costs more than he's worth, so you keep him, IMO.

Probably someone who, if we are lucky, turns into 2019 Means.

I immediately turn these kind of questions around: What would you give up for a pitcher who pretty dramatically over-performed during his rookie year and whose FIP and xFIP are a lot higher than his ERA?  The answer is someone who has some upside but also a fair amount of risk.

I really like John Means, but his mid-range projection for 2020 has to be something like 140 innings of a 105 ERA+.  No 2020 GM is going to trade for Means expecting that he's going to be a 4+ win pitcher throughout his team-controlled years.

I would not trade Mancini. I bet if we played him at IB instead of the OF,  he would have an even better year at the plate than this year.

I generally agree with the perspective, but I slightly disagree about Means.

A GM in win-now mode without much budget available could offer more that we'd otherwise think for a young, cheap, mid-rotation arm. I'm not laying great odds of it happening, but crazier things have happened.

Rutschman in a package with three other players from that list for Mike Trout.

Rutschman would make more sense to keep than trading straight up for Trout.   Trout is 28 and has 11 more year on his contract at $35 million a year.   Rutschman will be making major league minimum for first 3 years. Adding Trout to last year's team puts us at 64 wins.

Trout could be the best all around player in baseball history and should have at least another 6-8 productive years.  He wont make a difference next year but he could in 2021 and beyond.

Yeah at market prices.  $35 million dollars could be used elsewhere.   He finished 3rd in WAR this season.  He certainly is no Willie Mays.  And he has won zero playoff games during his career.  Baseball is a team sport.  You can't be trading young star prospects for Guys with $400 million dollar contracts and expect to be winners long term with the Orioles budget constraints.

You can make the reasonable point that the team isn't in a position to trade for established talent without adding these multiple, obvious trolling attempts.

How are they trolling.  With logic like that I could say it is trolling to say Trout could be best all around player of all time.

Responding to how Trout is the best all around player of all time. He isn't as good as Willie Mays was.

Zero playoff wins is there to tell you getting 1 great player isn't going to turn you into a World Series contender.

3rd in WAR is important.  Bregman had more WAR than him.  Example of trading a highly rated prospect for Trout.  Bregman is making $640k.  Bellinger who was first in WAR made $605k.   Trout made $36 million this year.  Both Bregman and Bellinger have been to the World Series and are in the playoffs this year.

Can the mods please put him back on /ignore?

Do I have to fill out a work ticket?

Ignore because I don't believe in trading a top 5 prospect in all of baseball should be traded for a guy with a $400 million dollar contract?

Nope, I actually agree with you about trading for Trout.  I just don't like you.
