Right but wouldn't it make sense to have something of a functional team and future players on the roster already when they come up?
Odor 1 year so it's just a patchwork job and another punt year. Joy...
You could build a better pitching staff with the non-tenders than the Orioles had last season. Wouldn't mind them taking chances on any of the following:
Kuhl, Boyd, Gsellman, Suero, Vasquez
I am sure there will be more as the deadline nears. And before anyone tells me these guys were terrible last year, the signing of Odor clearly indicates the Orioles are not this upcoming season seriously, and the Orioles big pitching signing last year was Harvey.
He led the MLB in errors as a 2B, in 2015,2016,2017,2019,and 2020.
And in 2018, and 2021 he was 4th.
Posted a negative dWAR all but two years as a pro.
And his fielding % was below league average at the position for every year as a pro except 2018.
Except those guys aren’t on the team anymore and didn’t end the year with the team…so he doesn’t make the team better that will be on the field in 2022.
BTw, it’s far from definite that he would be an improvement over those guys.
