The non-tender thread

At the risk of lighting a match at the gas station, this team would be heavily favored against the 2020 Orioles in a best of 5 series.

- RP Blake Treinen - 2B César Hernández - SP Taijuan Walker - IF Addison Russell - SP Kevin Gausman - CF Kevin Pillar - OF Domingo Santana - 3B Maikel Franco - OF Steven Souza Jr. - DH C.J. Cron - SP Aaron Sanchez - IF José Peraza - IF Tim Beckham

With only the four pitchers I think the O's can wear them down and win games 3-5.

No catcher either. Davis might reach 1st every at bat on the dropped 3rd strike...

Wow to all those names. Would love to see Caleb back here. Rather have him behind the plate than any of the guys we have, even though he doesn’t hit as well as one might wish.

Would give Taijuan Walker a shot. Ideal situation for him, low pressure to prove health and the O's can trade him if he is any good.

Agree. Another Dan Straily but with more upside

Peraza would be interesting. The projection systems like him for a pretty good year. He’s only 25. 3 years of team control left, but via the arb process. Power would play up at OPACY.

Russell would be interesting as well. OPACY would offer a good bounce back type season.

My 28-game-plan seats are in the front row of the upper deck behind home plate and I have a really booming voice.

If the Orioles signed Addison Russell you would hear me booing him every pitch of every at-bat. You would know whether I was at that game every time he came up.

Ok Luke/Tony/Frobby etc

assemble for us please, a reasonable team of non-tendered guys who we should target as being cheap and better than what we have?

Seems as if Lots of worthwhile 1WAR+ Guys were let go.

He wasn’t worth anything but I’d love to have CaJo back for his D.

Peraza, Shaw, Franco, and Hernandez would all be good targets for the infield if no one else offers starting jobs.

But maybe they're too expensive for Elias's Tampa-like budget. I'm an offseason junkie, but I can't draw up any excitement after they traded a 4 WAR player for an organizational guy to save money. Trading Bundy, claiming a few Alberto-like lottery tickets, and signing a Dan Straily or two are the only moves I expect.

Another reason I am glad I am not a Marlins fan.  And because their ballpark makes me nauseous.

Yeah - Jesus hasn't been the same since Manny spiked him in the playoffs.

    • Has anyone seen the rest of BA’s top 30 for us?     I’m trying to put together a spreadsheet of all the various top 30 lists for the O’s.    I don’t have BP’s list either.
    • Let CD stay on the bench till that albatross is cut.
    • I'm glad to see him working to improve.  That said, I think he's still a 1B/DH at the end of the day.  That's not a bad thing, it's just that the team needs to make a decision on whether his bat will justify moving Mancini or Nunez.  I don't see room for all three of them.
    • He does look more fluid in LF than Trumbo for sure, but doesn't have Trumbo's arm.
    • Today it’s freezing by FL standards and in the way to the fields coach Tim DeJohn and I compared layers.  He told me where and when they’d be doing high rate double play drills today, field 2 if you’re around.  The players did a great short burst explosion contest this morning and I’ll go through my footage.  Highlights include JC Encarnacion beating Mason Janvrin who gets to top speed in 2-3 strides.   Right now they’ve moved to sliding drills.  I don’t want Ripken or Zach Jarrett coming for my legs!  I’ll have more soon. 10:30am Update-Just got a nice little tidbit talking to a starter.  He told me that the guys who are here early as far as pitchers are all starters whose throwing programs include 30 mound pitches and a live BP every 3 days.  I had thought something like that but he confirmed it, he went yesterday so after calisthenics and stretches he was basically done for the day.  Kind of like most baseball fans he wanted to go to the O’s game and ‘watch Chris Davis.  I reminded him of his .800 spring average and he cracked up.
    • Yeah, possibly.  Mountcastle is not a bad athlete but he doesn't throw well.  I wanted them to try him at 2B for a while, since he started out at SS/3B.  I think he could become a solid LF.  That bat though, loudest MiLB bat I ever heard.
