I laughed.  I mean it is highly suspect gaining that much muscle that quickly.

As did I. Based on what we've seen of Chris Davis' worth ethic there's no chance he gained all that weight in that amount of time naturally.

Everyone knows to increase bat speed using a light bat will help. Has he considered this change?

I think this is something to watch as well. I think it has always been very noticeable that he carries a heavier bat than the average player. He certainly did in his prime. I may be remembering wrong, but I don't recall him ever using a smaller bat as he has aged (and, IMO, his bat speed has decreased) and last year when he played at a lighter weight. If his weight gain does not produce the desired results, he should be trying a lighter bat.

The bat Chris Davis uses is 35 inches long and weighs 33 ounces.

The average MLB bat is 32 ounces, clearly 33 isnt the 54 ounces of Ruth and there were a few in 40s, back in previous decades.

I found this tidbit, which Im sure wont impress most of OH

strong MLB players from the past you think of Frank Howard of the Washington Senators. "Hondo" as he was called used a gargantuan 37-inch, 35-ounce bat to clobber 382 home runs during his 16-year career.

Davis switched to a heavier bat after Thome suggested it.  As far as I know he hasn't switched back.

Maybe somebody can tweet that question to Roch???????

Now that you mentioned this, it sure seams like I remember that.

Geeze, if thats all we had to do, to fix his bat speed problems. :):) :)

If you don't take the bat off your shoulder it doesn't matter if it's lighter.

You don't put on 25 lbs in 4. 1/2 months naturally...

This actually depends.  A bigger guy like Davis with a bigger frame could. I'm sure he hired a full time trainer and food specialist.  He already had the mass, just needed to convert it.  Now if he had a smaller frame and big growth, ala Barry Bonds, I'd say...yeah. Also, if he was looking into retiring he probably wasn't working out as hard.

You lost me.

How did he already have the mass if he gained 25 pounds?

Mass and weight are two different things?

I am extremely skeptical as well. If he's using natural, legal supplements, well, I'll have what he's having.

Sure, but I don't think he's changed gravitational fields.

Maybe you don't think so, but 25 pounds is 25 pounds.

I’m glad that someone other than me remembers their high school physics.

True, But, I still think it some cases, its a mental thing, he is overthinking it.

They say when you are in a sweet zone, that ball looks like a grapefruit and when you are out of your zone, it looks like a pebble.

So he doesn't have the work ethic/discipline to rework his swing, but I'm to believe he does have it to drastically transform his body in a very short amount of time?
