Ravens discussing contract with exBrown Kirksley

Ravens Reportedly 'Involved' in Talks With Christian Kirksey

One way the Ravens can attack free agency is by targeting players who've been released. These cap casualties don't count against the compensatory pick formula, and former Cleveland Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey could be a target.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the Ravens have been "involved" in communications with Kirksey, but no visit has happened.

"At 27, Kirksey could have some of his best football ahead of him," Sports Illustrated's Todd Karpovich wrote. "The former third-round pick from Iowa was productive over his first six seasons, finishing with 286 tackles and six sacks over the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Kirksey is also effective in pass coverage. He is active in the local community, which is an area of pride for the Ravens."

Kirksey was one of the NFL's top linebackers during those two years, but his health has become a concern. He's played in just nine games over the last two seasons. Those lingering issues could be a red flag for the Ravens, who have a limited amount of cap space to work with.

So he traded Kare Vedvik and a 5th rounder for C Campbell and Marcus Peters .....WOW

😎

All about salaries.  You can't have too many guys making what Campbell and Peters make.  Both make $15 million a year.  You can get good players in free agency for that.  So I don't see them as bargains.

Good thing they are good players then.  And we are likely to reduce Campbell's cap hit for 2020.

The Ravens basically traded Hayden Hurst and a fourth for Calais Campbell and a second.  Not too shabby.

Nice comments about Michael Brockers from others. Team Captain high character guy in LA just like Campbell. DeCosta continues to shine !! Some DL they are building in Baltimore. 6'5" and 305 lbs. Like these tall linemen. Knock down passes every game! Now ! Emmanuel Sanders ? Graham Glasgow for center or guard or Connor McGovern? Glasgow did not allow a sack last season. Glasgow is rumored heading to Denver. If that happens McGovern becomes available. Denver's center for all 16 games last season. The Ravens will need to release Brandon Carr who will save them 7 million against the cap. They could re-sign him.

No Kirksey, Martinez, Littleton.  Would like to see Schobert added.  The Ravens need an established tackling machine unless they think they can get a draft pick who can step in and have 80 sacks, which happens (Leonard, Devon White, Bush)

I'm hearing #Seahawks have inquired about availability of Ravens EDGE defender Matt Judon, who received franchise tag. No deal imminent at this time.

Baltimore only has a few million in cap space after landing Calais Campbell/Michael Brockers, team is open to moving him.

If the Seahawks were to pull the trigger and trade for Judon, one source indicated the Ravens would likely ask for a second-round pick in exchange. A third-round pick coupled with a late-round pick could also be enough, depending on how negotiations unfold for a potential extension.
..........

I believe we have more cap than 2 million

Over the cap says $1.8 million. We have $15.5 million in dead money plus all these guys we are paying $15 million a year.  Adds up quick.
