Ravens resign Jimmy Smith

Interesting that the passer rating allowed was so low on Smith. If he was so good, why was able to be resigned for such a bargain basement contract?

I'm not saying this is horrible, just that I wasn't a fan of him being on the field much after he returned. He looked real slow.

When was he injured and when did he come back, I honestly forget?  My guess is that the level of competition just went up.

The Ravens got Smith for a bargain contract, so I'm all for it. He's getting older, slower, and has had difficulty staying healthy - but he's still a solid player.

A lot of people predicted he'd be able to command a much larger contract than this in free agency, so perhaps he wanted to stay in Baltimore. But, his contract is guaranteed with incentives, so maybe it matched the guaranteed money he was offered anyway on a multi-year deal.

I would think age and injury history worked against him heavily. I still think he’s easy the 3rd best corner on the team and it’s not even close. I think he’s a better tackler than Peters.

He was active for the final 8 games of the year.  Starting with New England.   We didn't allow a ton of points in most of those games. The highest ones were against the Jets (21) and the Pats (20)  altho I seem to remember some sloppy offense or special teams play that really gave the Patriots a lot of help against us.

You remember correctly on the Patriots. If the offense and special teams play was normal the game would’ve been a complete blow out.
