Bynes to Bengals and Onwuasor to Jets

My understanding is Josh Bynes' 1-year deal with Bengals will be under the amount needed to qualify for comp pick. And sounds like Patrick Onwuasor's deal w/Jets is borderline. So looks like Ravens either are looking at a 7th-round comp pick or none at all.My understanding is Josh Bynes' 1-year deal with Bengals will be under the amount needed to qualify for comp pick. This to me is the real head scratcher of the off season, the lack of urgency to deal with what I think is the weakest part of this team at linebacker.

They have Fort who was a starter toward the end of the season. I’m predicting Queen/Murray in Round 1 and another MLB in the 2nd or 3rd.

As I’ve mentioned Queen is the better talent and I’d move up 1/2 dozen slots to get him.

IMO, he’s the next superstar MLB. The heir apparent to Ray Lewis. Mosley was a good player but Queen can be great. I think Murray is more like Mosley even though he’s rated higher than Queen by some guys.

Fort “started” some games but his snap counts were pretty low.

Yeah, Fort is a good special teams player but clearly not a starting linebacker.

As I said, I expect the Ravens to draft 2 MLBs in this draft.

Beyond Queen

Here are a couple guys that I like.... Courtesy of Walter Football

Quote

Zack Baun, 3-4OLB, Wisconsin
Height: 6-2. Weight: 240. Arm: 32.13. Hand: 9.63.
40 Time: 4.65.
Projected Round (2020): 1-3.

3/21/20: In 2019, Baun recorded 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, 76 tackles, two passes batted and one interception. He was a dangerous edge rusher and dynamic blitzer for Wisconsin, but has size limitations for the NFL. Given his size, his best fit might come in a 3-4 defense where he plays on the inside in base sets and rushes off the edge in the sub package.

6/29/19: Wisconsin had a some more experienced linebackers on the roster in 2018, but Baun was one of the team's most impressive and consistent defenders in the middle. On the year, he had 78 tackles with 11 for a loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception, three passes broken up and one forced fumble. Baun was placed on NFL teams' preseason watch list.

California_logo.gif Evan Weaver, ILB, California
Height: 6-2. Weight: 234. Arm: 32.38. Hand: 9.38.
40 Time: 4.76.
Projected Round (2020): 4-6.

3/21/20: Weaver was all over the field for California in 2019, making a ton of tackles and picking up where he left off in 2018. He had 181 stops with three forced fumbles, 2.5 sacks and three passes batted in 2019.

6/29/19: Weaver was a tackling machine for California in 2018 as he went from 55 stops as a sophomore to a tremendous 159 tackles as a junior. He also added 4.5 sacks, 9.5 tackles for a loss, two interceptions and eight passes broken up in 2018. Some NFL team sources project Weaver as having the potential to be a pick in the back half of the 2020 NFL Draft or being an undrafted free agent.

This guy is all over the field

LSU_logo.gif Michael Divinity, ILB/OLB, LSU
Height: 6-2. Weight: 41.
Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.

3/21/20: Divinity had 22 tackles with three sacks and a forced fumble in 2019. After serving a six-game suspension, Divinity was cleared to play in the National Championship. He also was suspended for two games earlier in the season. A couple of team sources say they see him as a potential late third- or fourth-round talent, and where he goes will also depend on the character evaluation.

6/29/19: Divinity played in the shadow of Devin White but impressed pro evaluators, and some sources said Divinity jumped out at them even though they weren't doing reports on him in 2018. He totaled 54 tackles with five sacks, one forced fumble, two passes defended and one interception last season.

This guy could be a late round steal due to character issues. If the Ravens are convinced he won't be a problem. He played with Devin White and Queen. If we picked up Queen we would have the added continuity.

TexasTech_logo.gif Jordyn Brooks, ILB, Texas Tech
Height: 6-1. Weight: 240. Hand: 32.88. Hand: 9.13.
40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.

3/21/20: Brooks has some fans in the scouting community. Some team sources see Brooks as a second-round pick, while others have him as a third- or fourth-rounder. Some think he is a true inside linebacker, but others think he is a Will - weakside - linebacker for the NFL. The ones who have Brooks lower think he is athletic and fast, but has average instincts and does not take on blocks well. The sources who are higher on Brooks think he is a pure middle linebacker who can do it all. Regardless, Brooks will probably be a second-day pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Brooks played very well as a senior in 2019, collecting 108 tackles with three sacks and a forced fumble. He had 84 tackles, 89 tackles and 85 tackles during the previous three seasons.

Fort's PFF grade of 70.1 isn't horrible. I think the Ravens are going to focus on MLB in the draft though.
