PFF : Despite Additions Ravens Still Among Worst Receiving Corps in League

Recommended Posts

From a Rams page

Breeland was a four-year player for the Ducks, starting 27 games and playing 41 total. As a true sophomore, Breeland caught 18 passes for 326 yards and five touchdowns. He was named an Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 selection. As a senior in 2019, Breeland caught 26 passes for 405 yards and six touchdowns through the first six games before being lost to a season-ending injury. At the time of his injury, he was the team’s leading receiver.

I think Breeland fits the mold of what the Rams like in their tight ends. He’s an athletic, easy mover who can catch and block with equal effectiveness. In McVay’s zone run scheme, you need guys who can get their hands dirty before setting up and getting into their routes.

Now look at our running game?

We are never gonna be a high-powered bomb throwing offense on a consistent basis (Miami game last year notwithstanding).   If we continue to score more points than all of the rest of the NFL...….I'm ok with it.

For context:

We had the 27th ranked passing attack last year (in yards).

Led the NFL in scoring.

Seems ok.

I think they are probably right. Loses to free agency and no signings. Drafted receivers usually don’t make an immediate impact

While it has been historically true that rookie WR dont make a huge impact the proliferation of pro style offenses in college has steadily increased the production levels of rookie WRs.  One only need look at the Ravens own Hollywood Brown to see that.  DK metcalf, AJ Brown,  and Deebo are other examples.  And before we go into the argument that these were elite level talents drafted high in the draft guys like McLaurin, Renfrow (big comp for Proche and Duvarney) and  Trey Quinn/Coutee (2 years ago) show it can be done particularly by late round possession type recievers.
