Is it hard typing when you're hanging from a cross?  I'm assuming so.

At least I’m consistent.... you bitched about the draft the whole time it was going on. You proclaimed yourself a Rays or Marlins fan and done with the Orioles. Now suddenly without anything else happening you are on board with the decision making.

Either you can’t make up your mind, you happened to be out of your medication during the draft, or you acted like you did fir attention.

Either way it’s pretty dam hypocritical to criticize my consistent position on Elias spending the number 2 pick on a guy that clearly wasn’t anywhere near the 2nd best player.

As I’ve also consistently mentioned, I wanted Martin and would’ve understood if they went with Lacy or even Hancock.

So again, we selected him 2nd and they have 7 other draftees ranked ahead of him in the top 100. Again they reached in order to over spend in the 4th and 5th round. I get it! I just am totally against the strategy.

Don't folks get tired of the everyone is biased against Baltimore shtick?

It’s what unites us.  I’m just happy I got enough of a rise out of you to warrant the jumbo emoji.

But no I was being facetious. I think anywhere from 80-100 is about right for him at this point.

No man, I just kept an open mind.  Willing to look at logic, willing to understand the strategy behind the draft.  Willing to learn and admit that I could have been wrong.  Sure, I was pissed in the moment and some of that was hyperbole.

Said it before, I'll say it again, I wanted Martin, too.  But I understand the philosophy behind the draft.  It might not be what I'd have done, but I understand the logic.  It's not bad.

I can find the jumbo one faster.

Everything I have seen is that he will be fine in RF and has a strong arm.  He probably isn’t going to be some elite defender but he won’t hurt you and his arm can make up for some issues.  RF isn’t that hard to play in OPACY and having a strong arm helps when you are playing balls off the scoreboard.

Still, he’s not getting a boost because of his defense.  Don’t think it hurts him but doesn’t help him either.

But if a guy like Martin ends up at second and doesn’t hit for much power, he isn’t someone I would take at 2...I actually may have preferred Gonzalez over him...but again, that’s if you don’t think Martin sticks on the left side.  If he is an everyday player on the left side of the infield, the Os likely made a big mistake by not taking him.

Luke? Is that you?

Did Martin even play any SS at Vandy?  According to this https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=martin004aus he's played 52 games at 3B, 13 at 2B, 12 at CF, 12 (more?) at OF, and 4 at 1B.  Based on that, it seems like a stretch and a half to think he's a SS prospect.  For all we know, he's a faster Mountcastle on defense.  No question he can hit and has a good eye, but 14 homers with 39 doubles and 4 triples in 665 plate appearances in college - that's ok, but to put him in the top 15 prospects in baseball - that's a reach, imo.

Something I noticed is that Kjerstad is the highest rated switch-hitting prospect in the draft, and the only one that made the Fangraphs' numbers ranking / has an AV of 50 or better.

Adley Rutschman?  Switch hitter.

Imagine if those two pan out, having them back-to-back in the lineup.

Is he actually a switch hitter though?

Fangraphs lists him as a switch hitter, though Arkansas says he's a pure lefty.  I wonder if it's some kind of projection.

Honestly, if BA’s assessment is right that Martin is the no. 16 prospect in the minors,  I don’t think passing him over to save money for later rounds was a good move.

Fangraphs has Martin at no. 52.    The move becomes much more defensible if that’s your assessment.

What is the difference between Kjerstad and Bleday?

Bleday got an additional 3/4 season to improve his stock.
