Well they have built a roster that seems ideal for that goal.

I have no delusions about their goal

Has anyone heard how moving players from the roster to the taxi squad works?

Do they go through waivers?  Does it count against they times waived? Will anyone be released if you can just store them on your taxi squad?

It is exactly the same as the minor leagues.  Think of the 30 to 34 guys not on the MLB 26-28-30 man roster as being Norfolk.

A guy on the 40 who doesn't make the team has to be optioned.  Promote a non 40 man roster guy from the 60 to the ML roster and you have to make room on the 40 man.   It's exactly the same as the minors.  A guy who goes down has to stay down for 10 days, etc.

But don't call it the taxi squad because that term is used for the 3 guys you are allowed to bring on a road trip just in case you have an injury and travel is difficult to get a replacement.  Those are 3 guys from the 60, they make the trip.  At least one must be a C.  But that's all, they aren't even announced.  If an injury does occur and one gets activates, all the above rules apply.

    • Sums it up perfectly. As tantalizing as he is, as good as his stuff is, I really don't see the need to keep giving him chances.  And I'm sure that the trade value is low, it's not like we're the only ones who understand what's going on with him but we need guys that can stay healthy.  Unfortunately, he can't.
    • I didn’t see it but I like that he threw 72% of his pitches for strikes and that he had a swingstr% over 20%.
    • I have no idea what he looks like defensively but offensively, his numbers seem to be fine...at least enough to give him a chance while waiting on a guy like Vavra. Alberto isn’t a guy I care if he’s here or not.
    • I'm not sure pitching 7.2 IP in 8 appearances in about 26 days time is going to convince anyone that they don't need to be worried about Harvey's health next year and beyond. Give me a full season of a regular relief work load with no DL stints or shutdowns and I'll believe it might behind him, but the only constant in Hunter Harvey's health since he was drafted was that he's not been healthy over a full season. We all see the talent, and we all are rooting for him to get it behind him, but he needs to prove it for much longer.
    • Because he's not very good overall?  Honestly I'm not totally down on Bannon, I just don't think he's shown enough consistency at the plate or in the field at 2B to merit anyone counting on him to be part of the future here. But, we've seen players improve this year who have come back up so I haven't given up on him totally. He does have some tools to work from and at the end of the day, I'd probably like to see a full season at AAA before giving him consideration for the 2B job.
    • That looks great! Nice job! I'm impressed. You'd have me fooled with the "not a bricklayer" stuff.  It's a little better than microwaving. Still cooking, still prepping, everything is pre-portioned out and provided (minus butter, oil, salt and pepper). Don't have to think about it, or shop. I took liberties last night and added garlic to the mashed potatoes 😂😂 And defied the instructions telling me to dirty more dishes and refused transferring things to a baking sheet for the oven.  I can't be held down for too long, no worries!
